Hello fellow PG friends! I have a question, June 1st I cut my Imuran in half.  I also am currently in a flare actually by the way, on a liquid diet. I have noticed the past week or so my scar on my calf seems like it is more sensitive than normal. Usually it has no feeling, I can shave over it, etc. I am a bit nervous about it, there has been no trauma to the area, so why is it all the sudden feeling sensitive? Med change? flare? but why would that make it sensitive? Its been well and closed for oh boy way over 1 yr now ... any ideas? Thanks

30 Year old Female. Dx with Crohns 2005. Currently take Imuran 50 mg. Had 3 remicade infusions which put me in remission.

Dx with Pyoderma Gangrenosum Nov '07. Used Prednisone and 3 more infusions to close up the PG.
I do believe everything happens for a reason, but I still am waiting to figure this one out :)

All mine that have healed over are sensitive still. My gastro told me when in a flare to avoid shaving, he said the slightest cut in the skin could trigger another outbreak of the stinking PG. The one on the instep of my foot finally closed after about 18 months, but the skin there is so thin, when I had the last flare, it also opened again. The one that covers the calf - the skin all around it and where it is scarred, is almost hypersensitive to anything.
Gl with yours and keep us posted.
Diagnosed 4 years ago. been  a helluva ride since.  If there is a side issue to this dd I can find it.  I suffer with Pyoderma Gangrosum and horriffic mouth ulcers that get to the point I can't open my jaws.  Last one was nice enough to create a fistula and  add to my list of fun things to deal with.
Been on all kinds a things, currently on Imuran 50 mgs and it at least give me some confidence in leaving my home.
Allergic to Remicade. Promethius test shows my body fights it.  Also suspected to have PBC or PSC  autoimmune liver disease.

i read this, and I was worrying that because you were flaring the pg was going to flare too. When my intestines flare my pg gets worse within days. I didn't want to be a downer, and I also didn't want to douns like I had a clue because mine has never healed. I do have one decent suggestion though - maybe you need to start treating it with something that works for you - just as a precaution and a comfort -- like i use silver suladiazine - or maybe you have used a steriod creme or something. Just give it a little love maybe.

also, for you two that have had healing experiences I have a question if you would not mind. How does pg heal? Lately I've started to go into a small healing cycle. Partially because I started treating it with silver sulfadiazine - and perhaps maybe perhaps because I started LDN.
In any case the deepest levels have healed in the center, and the circumference is not as mad looking, nor quite as large. but it's been slow.

I've gotten to the point I can use no adhesives near it. I'll spare you the stories of trying everything LOL, but as you may recall mine is on my back, on my shoulder blade, so there is no way known to mankind I can NOT use some tape. So now, I'm making a 4x4 area around it and trying to lightly tape there with micropore. it's so hard, because that part of your body moves all the time and it just impossible to cover it in a way that does not add problems....

anyway, I digress, here is my question: how did you heal do you remember? upwards from the center? thanks and hugs to both of you.
strictures, crohn's, adhesions, endo. Pyoderma Gangrenosum.
LDN 4mg ~ Boswellia Serrata ~ Olive Leaf extract ~ SCD yogurt. Using silver sulfadiazine on Pyoderma . B-12 shots. Juicing veggies!

Thanks for the reply. I am so glad to get input from people. It makes sense to be so very careful expecially when flaring with this. Is that sulfadine a prescription? or over the counter? As far as healing, I have been closed for over a yr now but I do remember at one time the wound was to big for a large bandage so I had to use a gauze pad and tape, eventually it was small enough to put under the largest bandage they had.. but as far as when it totally closed, to be honest i can't recall the exact way it went. I mean it seemed deepest in the middle so I imagine to a point it had to heal from inward out but I know the sides got smaller to so maybe it all kinds healed at the same time.. sorry I could not be more help!
