Hey Guys;

I have found a g.i. who is giving me the green light for remicade. I seen him in May. I go for my tb test, and chest xray tuesday. I have to get a colon test, and stomach test done, Mid July. I will be out for both, and this g.i. will be doing both tests himself. He has assured me that active inflammation isn't everything. I am on pred. I am on pain meds, and I should have alot of scar tissue he can see, that is enough to start anti-tnf(remicade first) he said.

I was wondering if anyone has been put on remicade, or any anti-tnf med, humira maybe, without active inflammation present?

Don't quite understand. Are you saying you don't have active disease at the moment? Since you are on Pred and pain killers, what are your symptoms?

I agree you don't have to have active Crohn's to go on these medications if you have had a lot of inflammation in the past that has caused scar tissue. It may prevent further inflammation and scar tissue but I didn't think they will work on the scar tissue that is already present?

My GI did mention Humira after I had surgery to remove a very significant and inflammed stricture in the colon. I am going to have an ultrasound done before we decide and even then I do not experience the usual Crohn's symptoms so will again not be an easy decision as to what medication to be on.

Yes, I am saying that I don't have active inflammation that they can see with a colon test. Blood tests come back ok too, in normal ranges, nothing to suggest active inflammation.

There are signs that the disease is doing stuff, like the scar tissue, the stricture I have. Since I don't have active disease/inflammation they can put a finger on, I have had no luck finding a doctor until now, that will go ahead with remicade.

My goal is to get off pred. or at least see what happens from the use of remicade.

I still have alot of symptoms everyday.
