I was just wondering who has or is planning on participating in their local Take Steps Walk for Crohn's and Colitis.

My family and some friends went last night, and it was really nice.  My kids (ages 6&8) had a blast.  They had a tent setup for them with a bunch of stuff to do and prizes.  When we got in the car to leae they asked when we could do that again!  :)    It is something we are planning on doing every year.

27 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night.  I take xanax prn for situational anxiety (aka no easy bathroom access).

I did one in IL a couple weeks ago. My first year leading a team. It was much bigger and better organized at my location than it had been in the past. A LOT of fun. They did have great things for the kids and all sorts of free treats.
Hoping to stay in remission after the birth of a healthy baby girl. On Pentasa during my pregnancy, went med-free 2 months to nurse (stupid), but back on Pentasa and still nursing.

I did mine on June 14th in Pittsburgh. BTW I posted about it when it was going on here, and it got deleted by an Admin, just a warning. Personally I think them deleting it is a crock of...well.....you fill in the blank. But rules are rules I guess.

Yep, I do the SEATTLE one every year.  It is coming up on the 18th and I hope it is a nice time.  I know they just changed it from 9am to 4pm and supposedly they made it more exciting and fun (and more to do, etc.).  We shall see!

I have had Crohn's since I was 21 years old and am almost 29!!
Unfortunately, my disease is drug resistent.  However, I will not give up and my amazing, positive hope, will remain always.  I was just recently married to the most amazing, loving, supportive husband that anyone could ever have.

Melissa - it might have violated the no fundraising rule if you had a link to your page. I am sure just talking about the walk is allowed.

That would make sense Fitzy...I'm confused at times when things like this get deleted but OT posts hardly ever do.

I just did the Orange County Take Steps Walk and it was wonderful. Almost 1000 people there and so great to see old friends and meet others who have IBD. A great event for sure and one I participate in every year.
**Diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2001; diagnosis changed to Crohn's disease in 2009 (but still only impacts colon)
**Asacol (4800 mg daily), 6-MP (100 mg daily -- recently switched from Imuran), Prednisone (8 mg daily...for a few more weeks), Flagyl (250 mg every other day), Nexium (40 mg daily)
GOAL of one day being immunosuppressant free...still working on my doctor on this one but I am a world traveler who desperately wants to go to Africa one day!
