Well, I finally know why I've had an over abundance of mucous and blood.  Although I've done this test 2 or 3 times over the past 6-months, I tested positive for C-Diff.  Now they can fix the problem right?  And a question for the females out there - do you get fissures or fistulas in your vagina?  I've got what feels like a fissure at the very least.  I've had this 3 or 4 times in the past and it always gets better with a course of Flagyl.  Just was wondering if I'm the only one.  I'm hoping now I can begin to feel better.  It's been a really sucky past 6-months.

I hope all the rest of you are doing better also.
Crohn's Disease.
Diagnosed 13+ years ago.
Been in remission for short periods of time but each time I come out of remission my disease seems to have spread.  No longer isolated in my ileum, now from stomach down to rectum.
Current Medications for the Crohns:  Humera 40mg injections every other week, Imuran 150mg, Levsin, Welchol 625mg, Prednisone 10mg(started weaning off, now going back up in dosing).Canesa suppositories, Calcium, Acidophilus & Potassium
Previous Medications I've been on:  Asocal, Pentasa, Flagyl, Cipro & Entocort
Misc:  I recently joined a local crohns disease support group that meets monthly.  It has been great talking to and meeting other people who share the same disease.  I hope to continue gaining insight through this forum as well.

This is so weird. This is like the fourth post I've read today with the C-Diff diagnosis. I'm going to take it as a "sign" and not let my doc leave the office tomorrow until I get another test.

Along with the blood and mucous, did you have additional straining/spasms? What were your other symptoms?

Did you have to refrigerate your sample for the C-Diff test? The place I go here never says to refrigerate it and I've read that can cause a miss on the diagnosis.

I'm glad you finally got an answer!

Feeling a bit jaded lately, but trying to keep my chin up.

Yes, straining and spasms, about the only way I can describe it is it almost feels like your throwing up out of your butt but its only dry heaves. In this case, mucous.

Thats weird I just got over Cdiff.  Had it for 6 months.  Tested many times.  They didn't find it until the specimen was refrigerated.  My symptoms were gurgling, bloating, horrible mucus, D, smelled terrible.  UGGGHH!  It was horrible.  I can live with Crohn's but not that!  I did 3 rounds of Flagyl and Cipro.  It kept coming back, told the dr. he had to put me on Vancocin.  It worked!  I'm still taking probiotics to keep that crap at bay.
Just finished prednisone taper of 40mg in 6 weeks.  We'll see if it works.

Wow, our stories are extremely similar.  I just finished my Prednisone yesterday (started at 40mg).  I had all the same symptoms you described before you found out it was C-Diff.  I thought I was going crazy with it all.  It was extremely gross, disgusting and I was sick of it all.  I  had been tested a couple of times previously and was negative, this time I had to freeze my sample, I was positive.  Go figure!!!  Hope your doing better.......  :)

Thats a good question and the answer is, I don't know.  I haven't been hospitalized lately, I can't speak for the others though.

Alot folks develop C-Diff from taking alot of antibiotics. I know my niece did because she was taking anti-b's for her diverticulitis alot.
