My whole stomach feels inflammed.  It started hurting Fri.  it is worse in the lower right quadarant.  I've never hurt like this before, it hurts to barely push on it.  I'm thinking I should have called my doctor by now, but should I go to the ER, or wait until tomorrow??? just not sure.  feel kind of achey, but no fever.  Any thoughts?

Why not ring the ER and describe your symptoms and see what they say?

You know your body. As long as you have insurance, as even if you don't, I say better safe than sorry. The worst they could do is send you home. Good luck.

How long have you been hurting? If it was one day I would wait and see if it gets better. Anything past a couple of days would require me to go to my doctor or hospital.

I agree with Ivy I think you would be better served by running this past your doctor. Hoping its nothing serious and will keep you in my thoughts.

When the pain is so bad that your curled up in a ball and you're on the verge of tears - that's usually when I go.......

I agree with the others. Give your doctor a call and update him on your symtoms. If the pain worsens and you don't get a reply from your doctor's office then consider the ER.

Personally I always call the doc first because the ER always gives me the run around requires me to do unneeded tests. I save ER visits for when I know I am having a severe bowel obstruction that won't go away.
Dx'd with Crohns 1984 and polycystic kidney disease in 1996
Bowel Resection surgery 2006, Now on Asacol, folic acid, and Enalapril, Have been flaring on and off since August.

I love my life and everyday I pray that my body cooporates and allows me to do what I have planned.

I would call my doctor first of all. Usually if I'm in sever pain they say ER anyway. But if it's bad pain I usually end up there any way.

At least you are getting treated. Hope you feel better soon!
27 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night.  I take xanax prn for situational anxiety (aka no easy bathroom access).

Pain is the worst - hope you feel better soon. I had to go to the ER for pain once and you just sit and sit and wait because they think your symptoms are not as bad as someone else's, but you're hurting just as much. Good luck!
**Diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2001; diagnosis changed to Crohn's disease in 2009 (but still only impacts colon)
**Asacol (4800 mg daily), 6-MP (100 mg daily -- recently switched from Imuran), Prednisone (8 mg daily...for a few more weeks), Flagyl (250 mg every other day), Nexium (40 mg daily)
GOAL of one day being immunosuppressant free...still working on my doctor on this one but I am a world traveler who desperately wants to go to Africa one day!
