I have been taking Digestive Advantage Lactose Intolerant probiotics with great success for about 2 years now.  Well they just recently changed from a caplet (hard formed) formula to a capsule.  I just started taking the capsules about 4-5 days ago and since then my acid reflux/Gerd has been killing me. nono

Do you think the change in the way they are making it is causing me all this grief?  I am assuming that it is releasing differently and that is causing my problems.  Any thoughts?

I take a lactobacillus pearl at night and have no problem with those.

It could be. I know I have issues with benedryl. Depending on whether they are capsule or caplet, so I can see that other medicines it would make a difference. Since you took it successfully for so long, if it were me, I would make a call to the customer service number just to find out why they changed it and if any of the fillers have been changed. It may give you some insight, or not, but it also may score you some coupons. I called Lactaid when I had questions a few years back and I still get coupons mailed to me every few months. It can't hurt and it may answer your questions.

It's hard to imagine that the small amounts of stuff added to the capsules would make that much difference. I looked at their website for ingredients, but it looks like it is still showing the caplet ingredients there, so no joy. (BTW, there are $ off and free samples available there) You could just try cutting out the culprit to see if that is the source of the trouble - but for me, it has always been either food or other gut problems that caused GERDs. Sugar in particular, usually in the form of chocolate has been my nemesis, but there are lots of others.

It's gotta be the capsules, they must dissolve too soon thus irratating your GERD. Call the company and see why they changed and if they changed there formula.

Well I didn't take it today, and ta-da, no GERD problems. So it was definetly the culprit. I am taking another probiotic which is working well for me, so I will stick with it. Thanks for everyones help.
