This is a new thing for me. After my first BM in the morning I have an ever present burny/itchy sensation that will not go away! It was burning so badly yesterday I left work to run to the nearest pharmacy to pick up Prep H wipes as well as a tube of Prep H cream. The wipes alone didn't help (although they were a much better alternative to toilet paper which was killing me) but once I added Prep H cream to the mix I was good to go. Does anyone else experience this? I had hemmoroids when I was pregnant, but I don't think that's what it is this time (I don't feel anything protruding).
Diagnosed with Ileitus October, 2008. Probably Crohn's. Will know for sure in October, 2009 when I have my second Colonoscopy. Weaned off Entocort. Celiac Panel negative. Food Allergy testing negative. Trying to maintain good health and less bathroom visits with diet and probiotic.

I too have fire at my rear end quite often because of food allergies. I use Metronidazole gel or any other gel with zinc to douse the flames. They help.

You may be surprised to hear many folks use baby diaper cream to calm the fire. Sounds like you have alot of bile in your stool and the frequent wiping is causing problems for you. I would try to pat yourself dry instead of wiping. You could also try baby wipes (w/o alchohol). Another suggestion is getting a squirt bottle and rinsing your bottom off and patting dry vs. the constant wiping. Hoping that helps.

Sounds like you have fissures PinkFlipFlops, ask you doc for some medicated numbing gel that will help heal and soothe at the same time.

I have had this problem quite frequently.  I start with the Prep H wipes, then I'll use Calmoseptine ointment, which is available OTC.  Usually, this works.  However, if the Calmoseptine doesn't work I utilize Proctofoam, available by prescription.  I use the Proctofoam a couple of times, and I'm good.  Hope this helps.

Aw, I feel for you.  I buy huggies baby wipes with cucumber, for sensetive skin. I use them instead of toilet paper. They feel so good on a sore bum. Ive also used the Prep H wipes, but the Huggies smells good, and gives me a clean feeling

Ouch! I am right there with you PinkFlipFlops. I constantly have this issue...in fact last night I could not fall asleep b/c my tush was so sore and throbbing from all the inflammation and hemmies. I see my GI this coming week and we are going to have a little chat about this. I had a similar bout in September and he says its the hemmies. The last 3 weeks I have had constant bleeding and mucus with my movements sometimes just gas with mucus and horrible cramping pain. So I think I need a little help from my GI. I use wipes and witch hazel, baths, and lately I have been using ice cubes! Seriously! I wrap them in wipes and hold them on my bum for as long as I can stand it. It actually helps a bit but relief is pretty temporary. Hope you feel better soon!

Thats a good idea! I usually only have the fire-a** problem when I have major "D" and go many times in a few hours. I've tried wet wipes but that burns for a while.
