I am! Ugh, my tummy has been so screwed up the last couple weeks, Im waiting until Tuesday to see my GI, Ive diagnosed myself with C Diff.  This is really starting to get depressing. The 4th of July is my favorite holiday, and instead of watching the fireworks, I'll be hearing them from the window in my bathroom.  I guess another reason why Im so depressed is because my brother was killed in Afganistan 2 years ago, and this is our familys day of honoring him and all getting together and havin a good time telling stories about him, and seeing his baby (my nephew). =(

I'm sorry about your brother, Melissa.

Is there anything you can do at home to make the day special? Can you light a candle for your brother, or write a letter for your nephew to open when he's a bit older, or dress in red, white and blue, or....?

Ivy.

Melissa,

I am also home today.  I am so sorry you don't feel well and about your brother.  That is really hard.  A scrapbook sounds like a good idea.  I hope you don't have cdiff.

(((hugs))), Mag.

We're sitting home on our nice peaceful rural acreage and watching some of the small fireworks display nearby that make it over the trees, then watch the big display in the nearby town on TV whilst we eat some grilled steaks and ice cold cucumber slices.

We just do NOT enjoy the crowds anymore.

Some people are like Slinkies... Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

Thanks guys! I guess theres always next year, and every year after that.  It just gets depressing sometimes, usually Crohns doesnt get in the way of me doing anything, unless im in the hospital.  I hate not being in total control of my life.

Our refrigerator decided to die yesterday, so we were home dealing with that. So you were not alone.

We were home too. We were going to try to go into Boston to the big fireworks, but just didn't have the energy to find a place to park, walk a mile, stand for a few hours, then walk a mile back to the car. Oh and then fight traffic for a few hours or so to get home. But at least it wasn't just me, my DH was actually the one who said he didn't want to go.

We did have burgers and dogs on the deck. The first time all season we have been able to eat outside!!!!! We have had unbelievable weather here, rain for almost everyday of June. Finally the SUN is shining and our pool is warming up. We may actually get to have a summer after all.

Oh and Nanners, just so you don't feel left out, my husband tried to get our boat going for our vacation coming up in a few weeks, and the engine is broken! So you weren't the only one dealing with malfunctioning equipement.

Hey Mag - my husband just happened to be on business in Boston so I went to stay in his hotel w/ him for the weekend. I was thinking, what luck to be in such a great city for the fourth. But neither of our guts have been doing great. He is not diagnosed and is more likely to find an indirect way out of things rather than speak up. I on the otherhand usually just say "can't do that w/ crohns." We had already decided we were not going to attempt the crowds on the espleanade. But, we were going to try to walk somewhere downtown to hear the music and see the fireworks. But, we spent pretty much the whole night in our hotel room cause his gut was so bad. Luckily our room overlooked the new giant bridge in Boston and the fireworks were right behind it. So we sat on our couch and watched them from the window. It actually turned out great but I was really frustrated that our guts had kept us inside.
27 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night.  I take xanax prn for situational anxiety (aka no easy bathroom access).
