On Monday I had a colonoscopy and was given propofol, fentanyl and versed.  I was out - it was totally comfortable and I woke up no problems.  I had the usual gas pains but nothing else.
While going home and until today I have had terrible/excrutiating abdominal pain with nausea, vomiting the works.  This has never happened to me after the procedure.  My GI had me go for catscan.  It was clear.
I was wondering if it could be a negative reaction to propofol, this is the only drug I have never had before during the procedure.  I know and have read that it is very short acting.  Just curious to see if anyone else has ever had similiar reaction.
Thank you,

Wow! I'd say that it has to do with the meds. I'm sure if they nicked your intestines that you'd have a fever by now.

For me whenever I have a scope, I always come out with pain, nausea and vomitting that usually takes hours to a day to go away. For me I figured it was just the normal after having my insides invaded like that, but I read or hear alot of people never have any side effects, so maybe it just depends on our bodies or what happened during the scopes, I sure know I'd love to come out of one feeling normal for once. Good luck in hoping it was only that one med!

Good Lord!!! Propofol AND Versed? Sure sounds like overkill to me! I'd venture a guess your gastro or whoever did you scope isn't very good at doing them and knows it. He/she also most likely hasn't any interest in improving their scope technique either. I'd consider finding another doctor to do my scopes!
Some people are like Slinkies... Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
