When I first started out on Pentasa, I took about 22 pills a day. It was weird because prior to my diagnosis, I didn't take so much as a multi-vitamin. I had to buy a watch with multiple alarms and carry one of those pill separators to remember to take them all.

Four years later, I take close to 30 pills a day. I switched to the 500 mg Pentasa and take two twice a day, but I take a ton of herbs and supplements - which are working wonders. It is hard getting so many down and now that I'm feeling so well, it's even harder to remember. Maybe I need to bring my watch out agin.

It's a pain in the behind, but so worth it if I can keep feeling this good, the stomach pains and the arthritis stay away!

I think the closest I came to 30 was about 24. If they hadn't come out with the 500 mg Pentasa I would be now, because of the different supplements I take now.

I'm only up to 15 pills right now. That's my Asacol with other meds like for high blood pressure, birth control, and my anti-depressant. Not to mention my scoop of Questran every morning. I can't imagine doing 30, as it is I already feel like it's all I do is take medicine.

Last year I was probably up to 20 for a while when I was on pred and flagyl.

I get pretty close. I take get 20 a day from crohn's meds and antibiotics. Then I take 3 iron, 2 probiotics, folic acid, a multivitamin, biotin, and allergy meds. I guess that means I have a total of 29 right now.

It does get tiresome. Hopefully I'll be able to cut out a few soon (like the pred and antibiotics) and I'm thinking about switching to Lialda. I'm pretty sure if most of my friends saw my daily pills all portioned out, they'd be totally floored (even the ones that know about all my health issues).
21 years old, diagnosed with CD at age 18,

Plus Vancomycin and Florastor for a recurring case of c diff.

I like Ivy have too taken 50+ at times. That was when I was on high doses of Pred and Pentasa. But I counted last night and I take 24-25 pills a day. That includes probiotics and calcium.

Does it ever worry anyone that we have to take so many? I mean I know we need them, and certainly I'm not going to stop taking them. But I always wonder how it's effecting my system (like my liver). Just seems like so much, but I know some take more!

I've taken as many as about a dozen for years and years. Recently, been scaling back to 3-6 depending on state of complications. Not too worried about what they do to my system since it is messed up anyway. My brother says its "better living through chemistry".

I was at 22/day when I was 25 yrs old, but now we are down to not even half of that (but then also have injections).  The only person I've known to take more than me is my father-in-law who had a liver transplant and he didn't have me beat by a whole lot.

Crohn's Disease, Acid Reflux/Gastritis, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, Endometriosis, Arthritis, Depression/Anxiety.  Too many meds to list them all.  =)

I know that my gastro is seriously worried about how much medicine I'm on and has stripped me back to what he considers to be the bare essentials, but that's still 20+ tablets a day, not counting injections and pain meds. The problem is that the other doctors want me to be on more meds for joint pain etc, but my gastro (who I consider to be the boss) says no, my liver's health is most important.

I was / am taking more meds than my mother, who had terminal cancer... This is a whacky illness.
