I have had crohn's disease for 9 years and I am on immunosuppressant medications. Since, 2008 I have had atleast 6 MRSA sores on my body. This time one is on my eyelid which is very painful. I was wondering if anyone else has experience with these awful episodes. In the hospital, the last time I got the sores they gave me a round of three antibotics and procedures to try to get rid of the MRSA for good but as you see it didn't work. I have had surgery since then for my crohns and I guess my immune system with the prednisone, Humira and healing from surgery just is too down to attack this nasty bug. Also, if you do get MRSA do you feel physically sick, like flu like symptoms? nausea and bed ridden while you have the sores. The doctors are telling me that I must have a virus also because the MRSA itself should not make me have flu like symptoms but I am sure it is the MRSA. I do not have a high fever so I am not worried about systemic/blood infection. They gave me septra and the wrong eye drops for treatment. Gentamycin eye drops on Friday which upon looking want cover MRSA. I go to GI Mon. and hopefully can get appt with ophthalmologist. My primary is not very good at this treatment apparantly. Thanks for any replies.
