Remicade & Sushi

Just wandering if any of you eat raw sushi while on Remicade?  I really want some but am concerned about the bacteria and not having the immune system to fight stuff off.  Just wanted some input.... thanx!
Just finished prednisone taper of 40mg in 6 weeks.  We'll see if it works.

I'm not on Remicade, but I know alot of the meds we take leave us with no immune system and no matter what I've been on I keep eating sushi and have not had any problems. I don't eat it often, more like a once in awhile delight, especially love California Rolls, but I have never noticed anything in myself personally when I eat it. It might be a try and learn thing for yourself of course. Though now that I think about it my dad does try sushi when he sees me and and my husband eating it once in awhile and he IS on remicade, so I know he tries it.

It's all about where you are getting your sushi. If its a good source, don't worry about it. And if you're worried about your gut and immune system, take a probiotic. Those help. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.
I am a pre-30yr. old who has been diagnosed with Crohn's for 14 years.  Symptoms change from cramping and weight loss to severe anemia with fatigue and diarrhea. 
100mg mecaptopurine, 40mg Prednisone, Darvocet for dessert.  Starting Cimzia this week (fingers crossed).

i was going to say the same things as Ex. As long as you go to a reputable place that buys from a reputable source, uses UV lighting to check their goods for parisites, etc. then you are all set. If you are going to a back alley market, maybe not so much.
27 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night.  I take xanax prn for situational anxiety (aka no easy bathroom access).

I have been on cade for 8 1/2 years I have only been eating sushi for 7. I love sushi and recently found out that having it 2 to 3 times a week was helping me stay healthier. The fish oils are excellent for you. I am no longer able to afford it even once a week and I am watching my health not be as good as it was.
