I know its an awfully silly thing, to ask because it probably has nothing to do with crohns, but, my nipples have been sore for months, and no I am not pregnant.
I cant even touch them, and neither can my boyfriend, the shower feels like someone is twisting them off, it sucks, was just wondering if anybody has experienced this,
Im wondering if it has to do with a deficiecency of a vitamin or something that my body is lacking,
please dont laugh, i have no where else to ask about this,
thank you

No the only time I have had breast tenderness was when it was that time of the month or I was pregnant. I would suggest discussing this with your family doc or Gyn. Good luck!

Hi!

I've been getting those exact same feelings sometimes I don't even want to take a shower, knowing the pain to come. Or I try to avoid the water hitting me in this area. But I seem not to have it as bad as you. As my pain goes away and then will come back a few months later, last for a little while then go away again. Like you I'm not pregnant and it has nothing to do with me periods. I wish I could tell you why it's happening. I can't. I just wanted you to know, your not alone I feel the same way. I've done my own breast check.. maybe you should do the same.. make sure there is no lumps.

If you get any sort of answer, let me know.

Good luck! xoxo

I am having this symptom too, but not as nearly as severe. I do not know what in the world is going on.

mine really isnt that bad, it comes and goes, it just hurts to touch, and for the shower to touch them, I dunno either, i do not think that I am pregnant, considering I am having all of these stomach problems, and im sure the docs would have atleast done a preg test, every other time i went to the hospital for my stomach, they did a preg test.
I do not think that I could carry another child, with my health and fibromyalgia and arthritis the way that it is, so I hope that I am not.
im just wondering, if its just another sensitive sore spot in my body......
thanks mmmmmmmmmnavy!
havent heard from you in a while, take care

Well, I'm not as young as you are, mom1978, but here's what works for me. I take a tablespoon every day of flax seed oil with evening primrose oil. It totally took care of the problem for *me*. Barleans is the brand which has those two in a combo formula called Omega Twin. Since you have CD, if you decide to try it I would start with a smaller dosage (1 tsp. maybe) and gradually increase making sure it doesn't cause you any issues. It really shouldn't, though.

As for the cause... It's probably just those lovely hormones gone wacko... rolleyes

Here's what an alternative website says about evening primrose oil:

"Relieves the discomforts of PMS, menstruation, endometriosis and fibrocystic breasts: By interfering with the production of inflammatory prostaglandins released during menstruation, the GLA in evening primrose oil can help to lessen menstrual cramps. It may also minimize premenstrual breast tenderness, irritable bowel flare-ups, and carbohydrate cravings, and help to control endometriosis-associated inflammation."
Mom to 17 year old son diagnosed in June, 2007.
Omega 3s, digestive enzymes, probiotics, vit. C, calcium, vit. D3, a good multivitamin and SCD legal yogurt
Started The Maker's Diet in Sept. '07. Incorporate Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD) recipes, too. Med-free.

I wonder if the IUD could be causing the problem for you? I know that they can cause tenderness, I've never had one myself though.

My friend has an IUD and she said she gets this problems however she doesn't have CD. But it could be that. check it out.My doc wanted me to get one, but i said i deal with enough stomach problems. My friend says she does get horrible cramps.

I love the oil idea. It sounds like it could be for me! I get such bad cramps that my CD actually flars to the point of a ER visit. I will check it out tomorrow, thanks!

mom1978, I forgot what med are you taking for crohns? Sorry I have been in and out of the hospital due to the stress fractures and crohns acting up.

It's interesting that this question would come up. I just got over a 6-week bout of extremely sore breasts. I know that I have fibrocystic breast disease which not surprisingly enough, is another inflammatory disease. It flairs, just as my Crohns does. I was told that taking a high dose of Vitamin E helps. I tried it a couple of times and I think it did help some, but not completely. I'd bring it up to your doc and see what he/she says. I'm sure your not the first to ask that question. :)

When I was younger, I had fibrocystic disease, which pretty much vanished with menopause. However, within a few weeks of starting 6MP, I began experiencing nonstop breast soreness and tenderness--which felt very much like fibrocystic disease. My latest mammogram revealed no fibrocystic problems whatsoever. So I think that this breast pain has something to do with 6MP's suppression of my immune system. I spoke to my gynecologist about it, and he said I'd have to take hormones to make the soreness stop--but the side effects seem worse to me than the constant discomfort. So I'm living with it. I agree that it's crummy. I hate it.

I am not on any meds for crohns, as I have yet to be diagnosed, so not really sure what it is, my boyfriend thinks that I should take a pg test, I dont get a period because I am on an iud, I do not want to be pg, and take careful measures, my breasts and nipples are sore off and on, they just happen to be real sore right now, and full, im wondering if I am menstrating, and just having the symptoms?
I do still have the symptoms but no bleeding,
thanks again

Is Humira considered an "6MP"?

No humira is not 6mp, but it is a more serious immunosuppressant, so is immuran.
If you have had sex in the last nine months, then I would definately think a prego test is in order.

Hmmm . . . I wonder if mine is a side effect to one of those then? I'll have to check with my doc on that next time I see her.

Thanks for replying.

hello:
I have had lots of sex in the last 9 months, however, my body has not increased, and neither has my abdomen, only when I have gas, or d, and then it goes down after that. I do not think that I am pg, there is no reason for me to think that I am pg. I have not done anything different, and the iud is very effective almost 100 percent.
However, I will wait a little while, and then if the symptoms worsen then I will get a pg test.

:) mom1978, when I was a paramedic I had a size 8 woman who did not know she was pregant until she was in the last stages of labor (she was on BC, but I do not remember what kind). So I always flash on that memory when stuff like this comes up.
