I went to my Dr. today because of spitting up mouth full of blood four times. I have a small ulcer so he took me off Entocort which is a steroid med.
He said that the entocort can cause ulcers, interesting, but I had mine before taking any meds so just to be certain that the med has not worsen the ulcer he took me off entocort doing a endoscope this wednessday. He said he doesn't think its anything serious if it was he would be surprized because I just recently had the endoscope/colonostomy. This has nothing to do with crohns because my crohns is in the small lower intstines. If it is the ulcer that is acting up I will be given another med and taken completely off the entocort. I'm pretty sore where the ulcer area is. One of the best ways to know you are not loosing alot of blood or bleeding on the inside alot is by checking your blood preasure. My blood pressure was pretty normal.  I was just wanting to know to what point did I need to go to emergency room. I'll willl know more Wednessday. I did ask him about our vacation he said it would be fine to have one or two drinks even taking my meds, 3-4 to much!!! Then he asked me what I drink.

Yes, the steroids can definetly cause problems with your ulcer. I always have additional problems with my acid reflux/GERD whenever I have had to take Pred or Entocort. And thats with taking 60 mg Prilosec. Since he is doing the test on Wednesday I would just try to hang on and see what that shows. If you start having ALOT more blood or more pain, then I would head to the ER. Good luck!

Yeah, Entocort caused an ulcer for me, so I'm taking Prevacid now. :( I hope you feel better soon, it definitely isn't fun!
