I agree with Keeper. Why not start it now? You might want to start with the intro diet as recommended and stay there until some time after you've finished your steroids--just a thought.
Remember that setbacks can occur, so don't get discouraged. My son had issues around his third month on the diet and drank a liquid diet for about
10 days. Then back to square one with the diet. It was tough. Go slowly! (Especially go slowly with the home-made yogurt) Some people experience a die-off of bad bacteria (herxheimer reaction) early on. It can make you feel lousy but it's a good thing! Again, don't get discouraged!
Have you familiarized yourself with the SCD online sites? How about
the yahoo group? They will be a great source of support and information, too! Good luck to you!
