The CCFA stopped by my neck of the woods yesterday so of course I had to go! It was really good the day started off with the latest scientific news about IBD, as we all know IBD is genetic and scientists are around within 5 years of mapping IBD to genes. This means we will be able to classify what type of IBD you have based on genetic links not just symptoms, this will lead to easier diagnosis better treatments and eventually a cure. Crohn's/Colitis are the leading diseases that are being genetically linked right now (yay for us). Lots of free samples of Prilosec, Metamusil, and Ensure etc. available for everyone, so I scored a couple boxes of each. I went to 3 very informative lectures on disability and IBD, Dealing and dwelling with IBD, and Diet and Nutrition and IBD all of which very much worth my time. Basically a great day to spend my Saturday if you have the opportunity to go to a CCFA sponsored event you need to go!

about Health Care Reform aka HR-3200. Jennifer Jaff was there from http://www.advocacyforpatients.org/ and gave the information about disability, health care, and work. If you have a chronic illness this is why the new health care bill that Barack Obama is pushing so hard for is going to affect you. There are really 2 important parts to the bill that say 1. Companies can not deny based on pre-existing conditions and 2. There is no maximum limit for Health insurance (the governments and private health insurance, this bill will affect both). I know there is alot of bad information going around about this bill, so please do some research on this bill and know how it affects you directly if you have Crohn's/IBD.

Also kind of funny seeing a bunch of skinny people like me waiting on turkey sandwiches for lunch lol.

I edited the title of your thread and a little of your actual post so it is less of a magnet for controversy. I hope you don't mind - Ivy.

I went to a CCFA seminar a couple of months ago and the two presentations were outstanding--tons of info.

CCFA seminars are great. Sorry about the "controversy" that's really just the person I am, and truth be told I already edited my post before I made this topic as to not start a major political discussion (yea I'm that bad). Please do some research on this new bill though (from a non-biased source) as it may/will directly affect most of us with Crohn's/IBD. Also if you have the chance to go to a CCFA seminar GO!!! As for me I'll be sitting in a chair getting my Remmicade in about 2 hours cool. If you have any questions about Remmicade, my diet, or the new bill please feel free to ask me. Thanks guys. :-)
