Yep that is right when first starting out 3 pills/3x a day. I did this for almost 4 years, finally after my last flare/hospitalization which it didn't seem to to be helping I weaned off, I have been off for almost 7 months now. I got SO tired of swallowing those 9 pills a day!

Oh yeah, if you have not been warned - they will turn your urine bright yellow! Don't panic when it happens, it is just a normal thing when taking Colazal.

Hi i just took colazal generic about 3 hours ago and now i have bright yellow urine and bright yellow runs. just wondering, how do you know that this is normal? i tried looking it up every way possible and could not really find anything but this thread about it.

Did you ask your doctor about it and he said it was normal? thanks so much in advanced for you responding,

i am scared right now because i have read alot about liver failure from these meds? and i have no idea why it would just go through and turn evrything bright yellow unless there was something wrong.

Hi Neverletsgo,

You posted onto a really old post, so I created a new post for you so you would get more responses. Members come and go and the person you replied to may not be on the forum anymore. Someone else should be along soon with an answer for you.

You know Neverletgo, I take Asacol a sister med to Colazal, and my urine is always yellow too. I have been on this med for about 6-7 years and all my liver tests have been fine. I am sure your GI will be doing periodical blood tests to make sure all is well.

Good luck!

I have taken both Asacol and Colazol. They did not work well for me; my damaged area was too far gone for those meds to make much headway against the problems the damaged area causes. I don't remember bright urine, but it is entirely possible I had it.
I stopped taking either of those meds in mid-2005 and was moved on to different ones.

Crohn's and UC are pretty darn crappy, but if you can't laugh at yourself, you'll cry......I'd much rather laugh.
2001 Dx'd with UC.  (asacol, hi-doses pred, colazol, 6MP=jaundice, remicade)  No remission.
5/2008 surgery, removal of 6" of left side colon.  Dx changed to Crohn's.
Changed maintenance med to Methotrexate (MTX) and am remaining manageable with 2tabs Immodium and a probiotic capsule every 12hrs.
