Hospitalized twice in last 4 months for blockage, the second time when the camera capsule got stuck! I passed it and opted out of surgery at the last minute. Since being home i've been real careful about what i eat, chicken, beef, fish w/steamed vegetables, SCD yogourt, etc. Just now i had a brief cramp in lower ab & immediately went paranoid. I'm thinking i might have a blockage because i had 2 strips of bacon w/eggs this am. BM early this morning, but nothing since. Could it occur suddenly and for such a minor thing as bacon?? Now i'm afraid to eat or drink anything until i have a BM!

I would wait it out, if you can't pass and gas or have BMs for a couple of days and the cramping continues, I'd call the doc. A bit of cramping can be normal occasionally I think, as long as it isn't happening frequently. I wouldn't worry too much about the bacon, it might upset your stomach a bit but I don't THINK it would cause a blockage (I could be wrong, I've had 2 blockages and I don't know what either one of them were caused by). What meds are you on and how are you feeling generally?

Thanks for responding! Meds: Pentasa, Flagyl, and Predisone (tapered from 40mg, 30mg, to 20mg. Doc wants me to start on Humira and have a double balloon enteroscopy in the next month. We know the CD is in the ileium, but not the extent of damage, yet.

I wouldn't be too worried yet. Whenever I have cramping, it's usually because I ate a bit too much. Also, before my three obstructions, I have been in agony for several says before I finally went in. I've never been able to really tie it to any particular foods.

Wait a sec, you tapered down 10 mg at a time? If so, that might be the reason why you're not feeling well, you're supposed to taper 5 mg at a time.

To be more accurate, my taper went from 40mg for 2 wks, then 30mg for 2 wks, and now i've just started on 20mg which i'm to stay on for 4 wks. Then i'm to go on 10mg for 2 wks, 5mg for 2 wks, and stop. Does this sound appropriate?

If I eat bacon I always get cramped and sick to my stomach. I think that is the cause of your discomfort. Fried foods don't agree with many of us. JMHO
