I've got so much going on right now!!!! I got  these splits in my skin down near my anus and in the crack of my rear end. (Sorry this is so personal.....)I went to my gp and also my gyn and they thought it was a yeast infection. The steroid cream and anti fungal didn't help and now I am getting this red break out in my crack. It is painful and it itches. My blood test for crohn's is positive but they told me it was just colitis in January. I have also had some ulcers in my mouth last week and a fever of unknown origin. I will certainly try to see my doctor asap to get it checked out. My main worry right now is that I am supposed to get a D & C on wednesday of next week. They said I had endometrial build up and a potential polyp in my uterus. So, my questions are: could I have fissures?? Could the problems in my uterus be fissures or something like that??? I am worried. I guess I need an emergency visit with a GI doc and he is out of town. Hopefully, I can get one. I would appreciate any dialogue if anyone has had fissures and or female problems with crohn's. Thanks so much!

Hello! Wow, sounds like not a lot of fun at all. Sorry you are going through this. I have had fissures and they are awful. So very painful. For me it was terrible knife-like pain and lots of bright red bleeding. I did not exactly see mine, as I guess it was internal. For me, steroid enemas helped. I never had the issue in my crack. It does sound like you could have both fissures and a yeast infection perhaps. I believe they can test the area for a yeast infection though, so you can know for sure.

I also get mouth ulcers and I just hate them so much. I use Kenalog in Orabase or them.

As for the female issues I have had a polyp removed from my uterus, but I doubt it was related to Crohn's. Many of my friends have also had polyps removed and they do not have Crohn's. Removing that polyp helped me a lot with pain and bleeding with my cycle.

I hope you get to feeling much better real soon.

I also have splits in my skin around my crack and its red and kind of itchy, a yeast infection and a hemmie close by. But I've been having severe watery diarrhea due to the flagyl and cipro so I just assumed thats what caused all this. I'm also sorry for the TMI but am so glad to have people to talk to who understand!

I'm curious what the regulars and veterans will respond to you though, best of luck to you hunny!!

Also - there is a mouthwash called Peroxyl that you can use an unlimited amount of times per day which helps so much with the pain, you can find it in the toothpaste aisle :)
dx w/CD finally in July 2009, currently taking pentasa, entocort, cipro, flagyl, probiotics, celexa.

Learning a lot of tips and information by reading your posts - thank you for this forum, I am relieved to feel not alone in fighting this to get my life back.

Definitely sounds like you have fissures for sure (they are cracks/splits in the skin, sometimes bleed and feels like you're pooping razor blades with each bowel movement) but it also sounds like you have something else going on as well down there (possibly yeast as well), the mouth ulcers are related to CD, but you really should see your doc, you'll likely need an RX ointment to heal the yeast you likely have down there.

Don't ever be embarrased, especially on this forum.

HI jeanne. Your doctor should be able to see a fissure and treat it effectively. I had a fissurectomy and then a fissurotomy for the same one, but that was before anyone knew I had Crohn's. I have had a few since and was able to wait them out with a Lidocaine and Hydrocortisone cream that can be inserted well into the rectum. I remember telling the doctor that it felt like I'd swallowed a razorblade and was trying to pass it. He said that was a classic description of a rectal fissure. I feel for you and hope you get relief soon.

I don't know whether there have been studies done on Crohn's and endometriosis, but I had both (outlived the endometriosis after "the change.") I did notice that many women here had both conditions.
Take care. Lois

Thanks Lois. Well, my problems were not like razor blades, so maybe they weren't fissures!!! lol.. A lot of the problem seemed exeternal, like there were splits in my skin in that entire area, like I had another crack forming. I did use the cortifoam last week and think that is when things turned around. I read something on the site that made me think to use the cortifoam. It is odd.. I think I have crohn's because of these symptoms, the positive blood test, fever of unknown origin last week and arthritic symptoms. Also, the week before all this got I also had mouth problems at the same time. I called my doctor today. Originally, I saw my gp and they gave me meds for yeast but that didn't help at all. I take 8 pills a day and had missed quite a few doses. Will try not to do that again. They told me I had diverticular colitis in January. We'll see. Now, I have to talk to the nurse before I can see anybody. It is clearing up now!
Thanks again for your reply, Lois. Good luck to you as well.
