Hi, everyone I haven't posted in a long time but have been keeping up with everyone by reading the posts.
My question is --I've been off  Pred for close to three months now and my body is hurting so bad and i am
exhausted all the time. Will the pain and exhaustion ever go away? I started having the pain when I started
reducing the Pred. and it is just getting worse. It hurts to walk, to try to bend to pick something up, i can't even
take a bath because i'm affraid i won't be able to get out of the tub. I went to the Dr. and they gave me Ultram
but it doesn't touch the pain. My husband has been great but I'm not sure he really knows the pain I'm in, I try
not to show my distress to much so I do my crying in the shower and believe me I'm not a cryer but this is doing
me in.

Thanks for listening and hopfully answers to my question.

If you've been off of the prednisone for 3 months... if I were you I would be looking for another culprit. I know it's strong stuff, believe me - prednisone can linger for what seems like forever... but...

It sounds to me like you are in WAY too much pain to be able to blame just the prednisone.

I'd do some digging on your other meds, TJ, whatever they may be. If that gets you nowhere... I'd make an appointment with a GI experienced with crohn's, because it might be crohn's arthritis or something related... remicade can induce lupus-like symptoms... there's so many weird things it could be - you really need a doc who knows crohn's if you don't have one already.

I hope you find some relief soon... no more shower-sobs.

Remicade '05 through '08, with no other maintenance meds (ah, those were the days, eh?)
Tried Humira. Failed. Tried Gluten Free. After 11 months, failed that too. Cimzia - failed.

Thanks for the feed back patientspiders. I had an appt. last friday to see my GI but he had to have emerency surgery so they had to reschedule my appt. It's in September. I don't think i can wait that long so i'm going to see if they have someone seeing his patients.
Could the Pred have been hiding the symptoms of something else?

Tj1,

I think maybe you should go to see your family doc and see if you can get a referral to a Rheumatologist. Many of us Crohnies have side issues of differing types of Arthritis associated with our Crohns. I am a firm believer that we should all have a Rheumy on board. The increased joint pain can also be a precursor to a Crohns flare too. I wouldn't wait too much longer to see someone as it will only get worse. Maybe you could also ask for something stronger than Ultram to help ease your pain in the meantime. I also find a heating pad helps too.

Good luck!
