I'm interested in trying it. Seems the evidence of success is all anecdotal but I've always thought this disease would be cured that way.

thank you
Bad fissure Feb 2005, still have it January 2006. On Pentasa and Imuran 100mg. Some slight swelling and ulceration of terminal ileum. No other symptoms. Now on Remicade!

Snappy if you look up in our Crohns resources thread you will find various posts discussing this diet.

Thanks Nanners! I wasn't even aware of that search tool. Very useful.

Is there a place I can read all about the specific carbohydrate diet or maybe find a book on it?

The book "Breaking the Vicious Cycle" is now available for free online. Go to http://www.scribd.com/doc/11844050/Breaking-the-Vicious-Cycle-by-the-late-Elaine-Gottschall#

I typed up some info in another thread that you can see here: http://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=17&m=1533705

I've been on the diet for almost 9 months now. I've improved quite a bit, although I'll still probably need surgery since my ileocecal valve is all scarred up.

Great success for my son! I have a couple of previous discussions on the diet linked in my sig, as well. Get the book Spookyhurst mentioned. Good luck to you!
Mom to 17 year old son diagnosed in June, 2007.
Omega 3s, digestive enzymes, probiotics, vit. C, calcium, vit. D3, a good multivitamin and SCD legal yogurt
Started The Maker's Diet in Sept. '07. Incorporate Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD) recipes, too. Med-free.

Glad to see some response to this. It worried me that the SCD might be relegated to a collection of links. The problem with that is that a lot of sick people coming here are exhausted and brain fogged and doing a lot of research is just not going to happen. The SCD works for enough people that it needs to be visible.

Keeper thats why we put the links in our Crohns resources. We were getting extremely long posts on the same thing day in and day out. I love how EMom, Ivy6 and Spooky added the links to the signatures. So much easier to share the info that way. IMO

I know and it is a great resource. The problem is getting people coming here for the first time to use those resources. Thinking cap time.
