Could it possibly be your thyroid acting up? I notice you are hyperthyroid, and those kinds of symptoms can occur with that too. Good luck!

The pupils dilating, and sweating;

Sounds like side affects from narcotics such as pain meds, or benzos(ativan, xanax, valium, klonopin).

Frequent urination happens while on pred. usually an hour or so after taking it, at least that is how it does me.

Hair loss, I dunno...

Hi Phoebe..i am on 3 flagyl a day..but i messed up in the beginning and only really took like two..i didn't realize how important it was for me to wake up to take them..i only have a few days left on both cipro and flagyl..and Prednisone..i was only taking 20mg...but after the 5th day..its not making much of a difference for me..i might as well just taper 10mg to 5mg..because i know my GI isn't going to give me a higher dose...i do need to get my thyroid checked..but i think maybe its the tramadol..i feel like a sweating pig. How are you feeling Phoebe? ps nanners u might be right...homeboy is tramadol a narcotic? smurf

HI frogelita, I’m feeling ok, but I am literally too scared to look at my mushroom drain and seton and fistula at the moment – call it denial, but I just don’t want to look back there, it scares the hell out of me….. so for now I am just waiting it out to hear about when I might get my remicade….. and after that I will see the surgeon about my mushroom drain and seton and ever-widening fistula-that-scares-the-poop-outta-me….. I don’t want to look.

When I was on 3 flagyl a day I noticed a LOT more adverse side-effects than when I was on 2 a day…… on 3 a day I experienced anxiousness, and from your posts I feel you may be experiencing that too…… it makes everything worse and really compounds the problem and sometimes you don’t even realise that its happening, its all part of the internal struggle of the anxiety. I would freak out over the smallest things and get paranoid, and I just didn’t feel like myself inside my own skin if that makes any sense. When I explained this to my GI I was told to go back to 2 a day. I became very anxious and depressed on 3 a day so just be wary of your moods and how much you are freaking out, because it might just be the meds. Setons take a bit of time to get used to but you CAN do it, it just requires a lot of patience and try to stay calm. I know it’s easier said than done but I only had 2 days off and had to return to work with this excruciating gaping hole in my butt, and it wasn’t easy, but If I can do it anyone can!

I would definitely see a dr about your side-effects, the hairloss could be from the pred? I’m not sure…. I don’t have a lot of experience on pred and have only been on very low doses for only a few weeks at a time….. but you definitely need a professional opinion on that one…. I hope you feel better soon ^__^

Also I just had another thought – maybe your meds are interacting in some way? I guess your doc would be aware of all the different meds you're on?

Frogelita;

That is a good question. I looked it up and it says that it is a narcotic like pain reliever. I dunno what that means exactly, so lets look at the side affects.

Tramadol may be habit-forming and should be used only by the person it was prescribed for.

Tramadol can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert. Do not stop using tramadol suddenly, or you could have unpleasant withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, sweating, nausea, diarrhea, tremors, chills, hallucinations, trouble sleeping, or breathing problems. FDA pregnancy category C. This medication may be harmful to an unborn baby. Tramadol may also cause serious or fatal side effects in a newborn if the mother uses the medication during pregnancy or labor.

Less serious side effects may include:

*

dizziness, drowsiness, weakness;
*

nausea, vomiting, constipation, loss of appetite;
*

blurred vision;
*

flushing (redness, warmth, or tingly feeling); or
*

sleep problems (insomnia).

I guess that it has the same side affects as a narcotic, but I dunno if it is one or not.

Tramadol is synthetic morphine so your pupils should be small, it does make you sweat and pred can thin your hair. ( sister a hairdresser).
Also stress can cause your adrenal glands to produce too much.....When I was under stress I had sweat in droplets down my legs it was so awful I thought I was going into menopause very early.......
If your coming off tramadol you would have sweats irritability and large pupils and you need to slow down the detox process. as it is addictive. Tramadol can also cause a speedy effect on the body and mind. I have been on it myself but it never worked on my pain cos I am morphine intolerant... only found that out after they pumped me full of it after an op and I was nearly elevating out of the bed in pain..

Prednisone will cause the sweating not sure about the others, but when I am on Predisone I go though multiple t-shirts each night even if it is only 10 or 20mg.

I have had the sweating ever since I got sick but it was a lot worse when I was on the prednisone. My hair dresser told me that my hair was thinning and that a lot of times when you are on a lot of mess it was no where else to go but through your hair and can cause it to fall out. As if having crohns wasn't enough there are a million other things we have to deal with. Hope you get to feeling better.
