I quit eating red meat a long time ago just because I know it's a little harder to digest than other meats but this weekend I broke down and ate a steak and have now had red meat 3 times since and my energy is THROUGH THE ROOF!!! Maybe I'm just excited to have rediscovered something delicious. No reason to believe I was malnourished before but I do workout a whole lot.

Just thought this was odd and worth mentioning..
Bad fissure Feb 2005, still have it January 2006. On Pentasa and Imuran 100mg. Some slight swelling and ulceration of terminal ileum. No other symptoms. Now on Remicade!

I soooo miss steak, but with the obstructions red meat always causes, I sadly have to still avoid it. I have had things that had ground hamburger in it, and I tried to avoid eating it and would invariably eat a small amount of it, and that hurt too. So NO red meat for me. Can I say I am jealous:) Lucky you!

Aw Nanners! After I wrote that I thought that maybe I was mean to brag about how great I felt and what I could eat because I know a lot of Chronies can't. Oh well, I still miss Chili very badly and can't eat that. take care!

Hey snappy, long time no see....

I think your energy levels are up as a result of eating red meat cuz of the iron in it...the great thing about using digestive enzymes (either supplement or natural using pinapple, kiwi, mango or papaya) is that when you do eat foods that are harder on the gut to break down, taking digestive enzymes can do wonders, many even take them after each meal regardless of what they've eaten.

:)
My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it! LOL :)

Good for you! I hope others take this as a positive sign that at some point they too may be in a better place with CD.

Personally, I've never given up the stuff. We practically live on venison in my house!
