When I was diagnosed, I was told that my whole lower bowel was affected, all the way to my terminal illium..........that was in 2003

Anyhow.......recently I spent 4 days in the hospital due to intenstial bleeding......balck red/black blood pouring out of me.......they finally found the bleed in my upper bowel and got it under control with steroids........

Wondering though.........is it possible that the bleed is related to my disease? Or......is it more likely, as I believe, that I maybe hurt myself falling off my 3-wheeler the day before....????

That is all,

Hi, General - I'm sorry that I don't have a response to your question either; but I also love your username!  Very clever!  yeah

I suppose it'a possible that falling off your 3-wheeler caused the bleeding; but a doctor would probably be best able to determine this.

I'm betting it's related to the CD. I've had blood in the past but nothing as bad as you describe. What do the docs think?

I kinda lean towards it being your Crohns too, as you had black blood which is generally considered older blood if I am not mistaken. JMHO

I guess Im just hesitant to consider it part of my Crohns b/c it has never been that high before....and why would one tiny spot bleed? Never had blood like that in my lower bowel.

And if it IS part of the disease, that means it has spread northward........its moving.......what now?

i find it odd that the steroids were used to stop bleeding... usually they are suspect in the cause.since you had no trouble with the bleed prior to you falling off the motorbike, i would lean toward it as the cause.. did ya get a good jolt or poke in the body? if not a heck of a coincedence. were any xrays taken to determine if there was an injury to the liver ,spleen, etc...

you know....it really wasnt that bad of a fall................

Furthermore.......a couple days prior to the bleed, I started prednisone.........which was my first thought as to the cause of the  bleed. When the docs dismissed that, I leaned towards the fall....doubt if my follow up will give me any news. They did some biopsies while they were up there, so maybe there's something to tell me in the results? Frustrating......

I think its your disease...i don't think falling off would cause you to bleed in that area..i would make the assumption that you would have bleeding in an completely different area

joy..............................

For years I considered myself to barely have the disease........its so off and on, and when its on it is not really bad compared to many here. Just assumed that I would always have Crohns-light.
Never thought it would get worse, move, or develop related compliations. This blows.
