Seriously...husband has the flu (won't know if it is H1N1 until Tuesday).  The poor guy has had a fever of over 101 since Wednesday night.  He hit 103.9 on Friday. The alternating tylenol and advil regime helps, but right before he is due for the next pills, his fever spikes and it takes everything out of him.  Doc put him on Tamiflu just in case on Saturday.  Does not seem to be making much improvement.  On top of all this...hubby is never sick so he is very bad at it.  I'm having a hard time pushing fluids in him.  I guess my laughing at his delirious sleep rants isn't very nice, but it is entertaining.  I also found gross curiosity in being able to watch beads of sweat form from his pores on his arm...it was like slow motion film.

So I am hiding from him as much as I can, but wanting to care for him too.  I'm not sick yet so I think I am going to miss this...or the other possibility is I had a round of it last weekend.  Several friends have said they were formally diagnosed with H1N1, but had limited symptoms.  I'm thinking I had a fever last weekend that I wrote off to normal Cd stuff and allergies.  I am hoping I was lucky and got by this one...

So here I am wiping everything down with anti viral wipes, not touching any cups or stuff from hubby.  I am not used to be the caregiver :-) any more than he is used to being the patient.  But I am BORED!!!!....we were supposed to be on our annual camping trip.  I have an invite to a party tonight, but am afraid to go.  I don't want to be Typhoid Habs and spread this flu if I am carrying it.  TV on Labor Day weekend stinks....so I am going to clean some more....hope you are all well

Oh no Habs!!! I know what you mean about being the caregiver when you are used to being the one taken care of. My husband was feeling poorly last weekend, actually scared me some, he was really weak and dizzy, but I did get him to the doc and he is feeling much better, not sure what it was. Be sure to take care of you too. Wash your hands often etc. Will keep your DH in my prayers that he gets feeling better and you don't get sick. Can you do some pay per view, or go grab some DVD's to rent?

Hugs

smilewinkgrin  Oh, Habs!!! tongue I do so recognize the "will sell at 104!" Been there, done that - in the past (thank goodness!). turn

I sure do hope hubby gets over this quickly w/no long lasting effects - or learned bad habits. nono

Meanwhile, good on you for caring for him as best you can w/o risking your own health any more than absolutely necessary. Sometimes its a darn thin path we walk! yeah

Thanks folks...it's later now and he is still running hot on day 5.  The Tamiflu does not seem to be doing anything.  I am keeping a close eye on his respiration since pneumonia is a concern.  Thing is he is very over weight and has respiratory issues to start with that make it hard to tell if there is a problem.  I keep asking about feeling in his chest.  His arms head and back still bead up...but he has changed t shirts less today than in the past.  We have to wait for Tuesday to call the doc again, but if he crosses 103.5 again I am taking him to the ER.

Funny they did not give me Tamiflu...I suspect that it is because I show no symptoms.  By the way it was $85 dollars for the Rx for 10 days!  Wow love my high dollar deductible plan.  My drugs usually put us over the deductible, but when you don't take them you need less (yup bad girl)

Randy...he mumbled about "sing me a story".  He is never going to hear the end of that one...especially when he makes fun of my talking in his sleep.

Oh crapppppppp he jsut took his temp and it said 104.6....I guess we are heading to the ER

OK I'm back again and no ER visit.  This is the freakiest fever I have ever seen.  I put an ice pack on his forehead and the back of his neck & forced some ice water into him...then gave him the Tylenol a half hour early.  The fever went back down to 100.5 within 30 minutes.  this thing just keeps cycling up and down and we can't get it to break.  I think this Tamiflu is a crock just to make the worried public happier and feel safer.  Sorry just frustrated that I can't help him more...
