So it has been about 6 months since i lasted worked a full day.   I had surgery on March 6 2009 and my surgeon clipped my colon and I had to have another surgery to remove about 12 inches of intestine and small part of colon two days later and had to have a ostomey bag placed on me (still have it)  I have experienced about every problem that you can have, i was in the hospital again for a week for kidney failure due to the meds that the doctors put me on, I have four fistulas that formed along my scar line and caused immense pain, then last month I got pnmoneuna (sp?)
and was back in the hospital.

SO anyway... I am finally back at work getting a paycheck, it is hard to pay rent with no paycheck for 6 months.  My pain seems to be returning, but not fistula pain i belive it is crohns pain again.  After going through all of this just to feel the pain that i had surgery to get rid of is making me scared about what is to come.  I have a 15 month old daughter and already have missed huge moments in her life due to me being in the hospital, it really tears me up that i cannot be the father/husband i want to be for her and my wife.

Sorry just needed to vent....Thanks to this site for allowing people like me to tell what we are going through and feel not alone in my journey with crohns.

Have a doctors appt. tomorrow hope I get some good news.

Hey Cubfan,

You have been thru alot this year, and it does take a long time for the body to recover. They say it can take up to a full year for a person to fully recover from surgery. I know it took me a longtime to figure out what foods were best for my new system, etc. I hope the doc can give you some clues to whats going on. Good luck!

cubfan, i know exactly where you are coming from, we are not the only ones who suffer in this disease, our family does too. i feel so much guilt for waking up my husband at nite every time i go to the bathroom. i try and be so quiet but most of the time it dosen't work.
and never mind meal times - its hard, there are so many foods i can't really eat ... usually i just eat whatever and suffer dearly later. i have no will power.
parents are always worried 'bout me, and all that. i believe i recently lost my job as an office clerk due to feeling too tired - not getting enough sleep - and unalbe to enjoy a cup of coffee to keep me going. and this other job i had a few mths ago i lost as well - 3 days after i came out of the hospital - they layed me off - what a nice suprise to face when your sick/not well and finally get back to work to find your boss saying "sorry, we have no choice but to let you go". i was soo angry.
and i agree, the bag - i had for about 10 mths and it was horrible - my sking started to eat away around the appliance, it leaked, and it was so not fun. hard to cope with when you are young [i was 24]
anyhow,
my thoughts & prayers go out to you and your family.
remember you are doing the best you can. [a little support goes a long way.]
GOOD LUCK!

Thanks Sofee!

i agree it is hard to cope with the bag when you are younger im am only 28yrs old and it feels like i am 82!  Ive been lucky with work im am in a union so my job was protected while i was out, but i work 10hour days and some days i cant make it due to pain or like your example, my bag leaking,  Hopefully my bosses will continue to be understanding.

Good luck in your fight with crohns....may you be able to eat what you want and feel good afterwords!  I miss those days..Big steak and a salad is what i dream of, now back to my PB&J and pretzels.
