I was going to say that your link doesn't work for me, but I noticed just now that 'http://' is written twice. So, if anyone is trying to look at it then copy/paste and remove the very beginning.

Edit: add 'www.' after it as well. It was giving me trouble.

Her only mistake was in leaving the store. She should have stayed right there to let him see the results of his pigheadedness.

Ugh, it makes me sad to read these stories, and even more sad that one day it could be happening to me.  Luckily though Pennsylvania is a pending state for the law to pass.

I'm glad they're working on legislation in a number of states, but I wonder how they will require people to "prove" they have one of the listed medical conditions that allow them to use employee restrooms. Maybe something like the "I can't wait" card, but I'd rather have it so that in an emergency, I don't need to fumble around for some card to prove I can use their bathroom.

Also, I live in one of the 12 states with pending legislation and tried to email my legislators through the advocacy tab on Crohn's & Me site, but it wouldn't go through (see http://www.crohnsandme.com/thescoop/crohns-disease-advocacy/send-a-letter.asp). Maybe the site hasn't been updated in awhile to reflect pending/passed/new legislation.

I can see both sides of the story, however I think the employee was a total jerk for laughing at her. That's just rude and inhumane. I suppose having some kind of card or something would make the situation run a lot more smoothly, I can understand that some of these places only have their restrooms in places where stuff can easily be stolen, and might have had things like that happen in the past. However, if they were that worried about it, an employee could accompany the person and wait outside to make sure nothing is stolen (unless only one person is working or something, then I guess it wouldn't be possible). I really hope I never find myself in a similar situation though, it's too bad that so many people are dishonest and make it harder for people to trust strangers going into employee-only zones.

Finding a nice quiet corner and pooping in it might change the rule. After you've got used to accidents, pooping in the corner is nothing.

Infuriating...and people still have the nerve to ask things like 'why don't you people just wear diapers?' or 'why don't you just use the bathroom in a container in your car?'

I have worn a pad and still had enough poop come out that it did not matter what protection I had on. I know that because of the little girl at Old Navy I still boycot that company 100%, no matter what they say their policy is now. I wish this store was national so I could boycot is too.

I am so sorry any of us have to deal with this accident happening in public places. It is bad enough to not make it across my house but the times I have been in the car or in public, it just does something to your soul.

May we all find peace.

I wonder what he would have said had she told him she was going to crap her pants and then smear it all over his store . Clean up on aisle 3,,4 5 6 7 ......

Ok I have worn diapers and the problem is I have so much explosive poo that it leaks out of the diaper. I need astronaut diapers, you know the ones with legs.

It doesn't make sense. Anybody who has ever had anything to do with a baby knows that a nappy / diaper solves nothing - as soon as it's soiled, it smells and makes the person wearing it miserable, and needs to be changed.... and that will also need to happen in a bathroom (usually with a shower at that point).

I once had to pee very very badly (before crohns) and was in a city and couldn't find a public restroom. I went into a Dunkin Donuts that didn't have one (and they always do!). So I stood there for a minute staring at the employee and said, ok, um, give me your largest cup and some napkins please. And he said "are you serious???" And I said, yup, I'll be behind your dumpster. And he looked at another employee and then they said um, ok, you can use ours but be super quick. LOL.

Well, and what I want to know is if they expect people to wear and use their diapers instead of the restroom, where do you dispose of said soiled diaper? Because you generally would change a child's in the BATHROOM. And I doubt people are thinking about how miserable someone is wearing one...or how badly it smells, but I think they would quickly reverse that suggestion to us once they realized what it actually meant for them. Unfortunately it seems they won't care otherwise it affects them personally.

People make me so mad..

I had to use the disabled toilets in a store here in the UK very very quickly as there was a long queue for the ladies room.

When I came out there was a lady in a wheel chair who berated me like you wouldn't believe telling me I had no respect for people in her position...I was embarrased because there were other people looking now...but i calmly got my card out of my hand bag and showed it to her and said "Some disabilities are not a visible as yours, it would do you good to get your facts straight before you attack the next person who dare try to use 'your' toilet"... You should have seen the look on her face!

Nice going SnowCrystal. I have had dirty looks from people before but non say anything. Pehaps its a man thing , and the fact that I look back at them as if to say, "open your mouth and you wont need a toilet because I'll knock crap out oy you."

To me it's just sickening that our society can be this cruel about something another can't help! I got real sick today, thankfully I was at home, but I did NOT make it to my own bathroom. I can't imagine having to deal with that, only to have some clerk tell me no bathroom. I mean what is really worse to them? Someone using their bathroom or me standing there with poop running down my legs?

People need to think of others a little more.
