My remicade was increased from 500 mg to 1,045 mg to 1,060 mg. From 8 weeks to 6 weeks to 4 weeks. Did colonscopy and Catscan in June.

I finally have my answer about surgery. I was told yesterday I'm having surgery in less than 2 weeks. I meet with the pre-op nurse next week.  I was mad because I been waiting on answer. Now I'm scared because the answer is yes.

Don't judge a book by its movie.

In the past I have taken Asacol, 6mp, Prednisone(3x),  Remicade, Flagyl, Cipro, Phenergan, Colazal(think there was others).

I am on Metoprolol 50 mg for high blood pressure and heart beating too fast. On Citalopram 40 mg for my anxiety and depression. Started taking fish oil capsule 1200 mg for my high cholesterol. On Calcium 600 mg+ D 400 i.u.  pills. On Remicade 1,045 mg

Diagnosed at age 14 in 2001, first started sick getting at age 13, Sept 2000. I am now 22 yrs old.

Thanks. smilewinkgrin Just nervous because they didn't tell me much. I just know I'm going to be cut wide open, which longer recovery. I am guessing the pre-op nurse will tell me everything. I am scared of being put under.

So my surgery is early Monday 21st morning(was told last week). Pre op nurse didn't tell me much. Told me to pack clothes for 4 or 5 days. But the surgeon will tell me after surgery how long I will be in the hospital confused . I just know I have fistuals(and scar tissue) and he or she is going to take them out. I don't even know the surgeon. I wish I would have some type of relationship with the surgeon so I would feel better. I haven't seen my G.I. since June. I guess I wanted to my G.I. doc to hold my hand and tell me everything is going to be fine smilewinkgrin . Got appt notice in the mail that I have to meet with a dietician next Monday 28th. Yeah, I have a feeling I won't be up to meeting someone to tell me I'm fat rolleyes Then it says initial visit at the bottom. How about we meet after Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas past? I'm already imaging what I'm eating for Halloween and it looks GOOD yeah !!!

Rockonbelly just think of how much better you are going to feel after your surgery. Praying this leads to a long long remission. So how is your sister going to take care of her kids now??? Now maybe your family will get that you really are very sick. I know my first resection which was done on a emergency basis, really opened my families eyes. Sending prayers your way.

Hugs

Thank yall for your kind words and keeping me in your prayers.

I'm home. I was in the hospital for 6 days. Surgeon said I was almost completely blocked. They took a part of my right colon out. My staples go straight down the middle; from top to bottom. My staples comes out Friday. The meds they put me on in the hospital made me itch. So I had to take Benadril with them. The clear fluids diet made me sick: popsicles, broth, juices, and jellos. Don't they know that's too much citric acid at one time? Just wondering when it will stop hurting to sit straight up. My back hurts when I lay flat, so I dread when it time to go to sleep. I put pillow after pillow. Any tips?  I might sleep in the recliner tonight. Mom and Dad been really helpful. Especially Mom since she stayed with me in the hospital.

I need help with food. I don't feel like eating. Will finish at later day. Dopn't feel good now. Bye

You don't have a morphine button on on your iv? I'm sure they would give you something for pain if you don't, or at least something to let you sleep easier. Best of luck with recovery.
Diagnosed with CD July 2007
Currently on Remicade, Imuran, probiotics, folic acid, multivitamin.

Yes Rockon do sleep in the recliner if you think that will help. I was wishing for one myself after my resections. I am a side sleeper and had the hardest time sleeping on my back all the time. When I got home I stayed on really soft diet for awhile until my bowels adjusted to the change. I ate things like baked chicken with mashed potato's, toast and scrambled eggs. Soft stuff like that, hope that helps a little.

Please do remember that you just had major surgery, and rest when needed. I know I had to use my pain meds for about 4-5 weeks after the surgery. Try to walk a little everyday to help build up your strength. I kept wondering why it was taking so long to recover (really wasn't that long) and my sister kept telling me to remember they went in there and were moving stuff around and cutting, so its going take awhile to recover. Be gentle with yourself. I hope this leads to a long remission. Has the doc said anything about what maintainence med you will be using now that your surgery is over? Please do get on something. I didn't after the first and ended up having to have another 3 years later.

Big Hugs

I am glad you are home just after six days.  i had surgery in march and was very very stubborn about walking.  i didnt feel like it or law and order was on tv you know the good excuses.  i have learned the hard way please walk and walk even if you dont wanna it will help.  As for eating i ate a bunch of instant mashed potatoes and cheese pizza(never has bothered me) also drink a lot i mean a lot of fluids i was back in the hospital in 4 weeks due to mass dehydration... no need for it, it was all my fault for not doing enough.  All i can really say is good luck and try to push yourself a little more each day.  i hope that you continue to be healthy and that the surgery was successful.  my prayers, hope, strength, and courage go out to you!!!
