I was just wondering if anyone has experienced a surgical hernia after a resection?  I had my resection in November 08 and in April I noticed a small lump around my belly button.  The doctor said it was a surgical hernia and as long as it didn't hurt me she would leave it alone. She was afraid surgery would make my crohns worse.  Well - now it is huge.  I have an appt on the 19th of October, but it is scaring me.

I have not personally had an incisional hernia. An incisional hernia can occur following any abdominal surgery. There are risk factors for developing incisional hernias. Not all of them need to be repaired. Some can become emergencies if the tissue that is protruding becomes strangulated and does not receive sufficient blood flow.
There is a good overview about incisional hernias here:
I hope you don't have any problems with yours.
