Hi,

My 3rd dose of Humira was week. The first time I took it, it was 4 pens, then 2 weeks later, 2 pens and then down to 1 pen every two weeks. I've been flaring up since May, with an increase in pain for July and August showed my GI that my bowel is small in a few areas. He put me on Humira and its my first time ever taking it.

The pain is driving me nuts...I can't sleep, my abdomen is bloated like crazy and it just seems worse somehow...they said it could take a while...but I feel the same/worse today than when I started the Humira.

Anyone else finding that this is happening to them? My hb is wondering why i'm not getting better, and I'm sure he's frustrated. I know I am!! I've been off work for a while now. Not loosing any weight...but that's normal for me (sucky though!).

For some people it takes a few months to work. I wouldn't necessarily count it out yet. If you are in a lot of pain, see if you can get some a rx pain reliever.
Diagnosed with CD July 2007
Currently on Remicade, Imuran, probiotics, folic acid, multivitamin.

I have been on Humira for 6 months and things are finally starting to calm down. My doctor told me that it can take 9-12 months for it to completely kick in. I've been told to be patient so I am trying!

My docs said to give it a few months to see if it was working and it did take
probably a month or two for me to notice any difference.  It also stopped working for me (in terms of arthritis, Crohn's is still in remission, I think) after about a year.  I just switched to Cimzia and noticed a difference within a week.  So, everyone will be different in terms of how long it takes (or whether it even helps).
Crohn's Disease, Acid Reflux/Gastritis, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, Endometriosis, Arthritis, Depression/Anxiety.  Too many meds to list them all.  =)
