I have been on Asacol, Entocort, Prednisone for the last month. My GI added Imuran (50) yesterday. Last night before I went to bed  my neck/face  under my right jaw line swelled up and made it hard to swallow.  I had pain in the right side of my face and neck.  Now this morning it is still swollen but not as bad. Has this happened to anyone else?

I am calling my GI today. Of course it's Friday and he's not in the office so I'm not sure what will happen.

I would be very surprised if that was a reaction to one day's initial dose of imuran. You may have an upper respiratory or eustacian tube infection. Any symptoms of allergies or sinus lately?

Is it in the area where a gland might be? The reason I ask is I have had blocked salivary glands before. Anytime I chew it would get really big and swollen, then go down after awhile. But as soon as I chewed again it would come back. Was a little uncomfortable too. You will need antibiotics for a few days to get rid of it. I agree with Mike, I don't think it was from the Imuran, I just think it was a coincedental occurence. Good luck!

I am on Cipro. I thought it was a salivary glad but it is still there and doesn't get bigger when I chew. I am going to continue to take my Imuran and see how it goes.
