I am going to travel out of state to have my proctocolectomy w ileostomy on tuesday and am wondering if there is anything in particular that I should pack and take with me??? Hope this is not a silly question, just not sure about clothes for the long ride home after the hospital stay, etc. Any tips on what I might need while inpatient would be appreciated too. thanks in advance!!

The one problem that I had was on the way home from the hospital it hurt when ever we hit a pot hole or bump. I would maybe take a pillow to sit on, that might help.
Good luck on your upcoming surgery.

loose fit bottom pjs will get you to the car (they provide wheelchair). You will have enough strength by then to make it from wheelchair to car. They let me go when I was able to p. I understand for a woman thats not so difficult but for a guy it was tough (i dipped my ** into some water to get myself to p so I could leave the day they said that idea . I wish you well.

I always take my laptop with me whenever I go to the hospital. Gives me something to do. Laying around watching tv gets too boring to me.
Diagnosed with CD July 2007
Currently on Remicade, Imuran, probiotics, folic acid, multivitamin.
