I had a really bad day yesterday after I ate lunch. I had lots of pain around my mid-back area every time I would breathe. Then I got weird chills and tingling feelings down to my feet and through my upper body. Fingers in my left hand felt tingy and numb. I know I've had some similar reactions before but this was pretty bad. Usually, I will go to the bathroom and then it subsides, but it didn't work so well yesterday. This has happened in the past when I've had constipation. Makes me wonder if my body can't process the food I've eaten and if I'm getting the beginnings of a blockage. Does anyone else have this all over body crazy experience with their CD?

What did you have to eat and do you still have your gallbladder? Some of your symptoms are very similar to the attacks I had when I had gallbladder attacks. BUT, I would not let something like that go without having your doctor or emergency center check things out. Feeling like you are having a heart attack could actually be a heart attack! Best not to find out by dying.

Managing with strict low residue diet, keeping symptoms to a minimum. All test show small amount of ulceration, still have occasional blockages. But still have a great time with my 2 daughters and husband!

Funny you mention that, one time I was sure I was having a heart attack in the middle of the night (I was 20 at the time too), I got really nauseous , had trouble breathing, the numbness/tingling in my left hand/arm, and pain when I breathed. I still don't know what happened because I didn't go to the ER, I went to the doctor a couple of days later though. They ran an EKG and did some chest x-rays (they were also thinking it could've been pneumonia), but everything came back normal. Interesting that you mentioned the gallbladder though, Zanne, because I've always wondered if I had problems with it since before I got diagnosed, but no one has ever actually ran tests on it. When I go to the doctor in a couple of weeks I may ask them to check it out, because I've always had pain around that area and SEVERE nausea, which is actually what sent me to the doctor in the first place (mainly) when I got diagnosed. The only thing is that my pain in my upper abdomen is actually more in the middle, not to the right, which is why I've never asked. I also had an endoscopy back when these pains were relatively new, and it came back clean. I've got stomach ulcers, but they are a newer development and are improving. Weird though, I'm going to have to do some research on this.

I had that feeling back in May, and I was certain I was dying. ER trip (which was made the morning after, when the symptoms hadn't resolved) was uneventful, but the follow-up with my doctor turned up a heart murmur and mitral regurgitation that I've never had before, so it may or may not have actually been a cardiac episode -- they never could figure it out.

The gallbladder thing is definitely something you should look into if you haven't already had it out. Gallbladder attacks are wicked bad.

I get thsi feeling when my Potassium drops low. You might want to have the labs to check on that.

I had problems with my gallbladder...it doesn't sound like what I had. I had what I thought was really bad gas. When medicine didn't work, I got worried. Then extreme pain set in and a lot of nausea and vomiting. I was up all night throwing up almost every hour. The only pain I had was in the gut area though. In the morning I went to the ER and about 3 days later had my gallbladder removed. I had about 3-4 stones and the doctor told me after removing the gallbladder that it was the worst he had ever seen.
The whole tingling thing does sound like it could be a potassium problem. I would recommend going to the doctor or ER and having it looked at because it could turn worse on a minutes notice. My father in law had IC (had surgery and is now cured) and has potassium problems. This sounds like what he was going through and he almost died from it. Then doctors got lucky and if he had waited about another minute or more before seeing a doctor he would have died.
Good luck with everything and let us know how it turns out.

So when one's potassium drops and you feel those symptoms, what's the solution? Will eating foods high in potassium (aka, banana) curb this feeling and resolve the problem? Or is this more serious than that and requires medical attention and/or potassium supplementation?  Sometimes my daughter complains of a cramp or ache in the center of her back, not severe, just something she mentions off and on.  I mentioned it the GI doc during out last visit and he didn't really have an answer for me.

Thanks for all the responses. My symptoms did end up passing and I felt better the next day. I have to admit that I did have onion rings for lunch (Bad, I know) and I was wondering about gall bladder symptoms. I was trying to explain away the tingling/numbness in my left arm because I have a presistent neck issue (I've had a blown disk and prior surgery). When the nerve is pinched in my upper back, this arm is bothered.

I have had this feeling a few times before and the symptoms always seem to lessen after I have a BM. Guess I should have my potassium checked (funny, I have to give my cat potassium pills twice a day) and talk to my doc about gall bladder issues.

    Thanks, all!

Oh, forgot to mention, turns out this was the day right before my period started. I know that I have worse flare problems during my period and this is the second month in a row that I've had a bad flaring day right before it starts.

I have had tingling in my right arm for a couple of years now. I thought it was Carpal Tunnel, but after many doctors and fake diagnosis they finally found that I have a buldging and degenerative disk in my neck right next to a nerve. That is causing the feelings and pain. I didn't think of this for you since you had other symptoms.

I do have a vague feeling that the left arm tingling could be related to my neck problems. This was always the arm I had pain/numbness in and still do when I overwork my neck (I.e., sit at my computer too long). I wonder, though, if all my tissues swell up from the Crohn's and it's just enough to pinch that nerve going down my arm that is otherwise usually okay. Does anyone feel like you get swelling in many joints/tissues from the CD, causing weird full-body symptoms?

I did a few years ago and the doctors thought it was crohns,,,,guess what ,,,,I now have a nice scar in the center of my chest. Over 90% blockage left main coronary artery . Make sure your doc takes a look at other things than crohns..
