Usually homemade yogert works better. However is you have severe disease(i.e. open wounds) on your gi tract strawberries (the seeds/acid) might irritate it.

However how long have you been on the diet?  Have you read the books?  Gone to the website?

When you start, don't eat more than a 1/2 cup of homemade yogurt. There are a lot of probiotics in there, and too much will upset your system. You need to gradually increase the yogurt.

Also, like Navy said, the strawberries are probably too harsh for your system right now. All fruits and veggies need to be cooked/peeled/deseeded when you start to give you GI tract a chance to heal.

Did you do the intro diet? It's recommended to do that for 2-5 days.

EDIT: Look at this thread to see the links I posted about where to learn more about SCD: http://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=17&m=1616937

Yes! Spooky is right! Somewhere on the SCD website I've read to start with only a teaspoon or two of yogurt a day and gradually increase. This ever-so-slowly introduces the beneficial bacteria into your intestines. I think it's possible you just introduced too many good guys to fight the bad guys too quickly...

Yet another thought....Is it possible the lactose could have bothered you? The brand of plain yogurt you bought may have had too much lactose. This is the reason behind making your own yogurt; the lactose is consumed by bacteria during the 24 hour fermentation process, so that even people who are lactose intolerant (or sensitive) can eat it without issues.

I hope you feel better soon!!!

I have been using the SCD yogurt, the reason why it's so benfit, is that while it's going through the process for 24 hours, it's getting millions of good bacteria. When you drains the yogurt through a cloth, the rest of the lactose disappears. Avoiding lactose is good. I remember I once got so sick and landed in the ER after I have been eating strawberries. Burning pain was one of the symptoms that occured. (But I also had an obstruction, due to the strawberries)...Strawberries can be too hard on the intestines. If you're using honey, be sure you're using the one that is more liquid, I think that Elaine Gottschall suggested one special brand that is legal. /Bee

1 teaspoon olive oil, 1 teaspoon honey, 1 or more raw egg whites, water, and flavor of choice.....for flavor i have also tried this with metamucil, orange flavor, ---I know metamucil is not part of SCD but Im trying different flavoring, also tried this with couple teaspoons iced tea mix, also not SCD,.. so as a fruit flavoring it should be as a low carb fruit (such as grapes?) ..Im going to try a few teaspoons of pineapple juice next one,,on my 3rd day now. Its interesting that cooked scrambled eggs I have problems with such intense protein sometimes, but with raw egg white it seems to effect different as its raw in the drink. Also can try coconut juice but Im not sure it has much flavor.

The yogurt is not "legal" according to SCD, so if you used store-bought yogurt you were not drinking an SCD smoothie.

SCDers need to make homemade yogurt, aged 24 hours - and are not supposed to have more than two cups of this yogurt in one day.

please read the book a few times and understand it. Just by using the yogurt from the store you have set yourself back to intro diet.
