I need  to know advice? I dont mean to sound grouse but , like I have said before I have severe lft side pain and is worse with eating. My problems are really in my stomach, dont have much trouble with constipation or the other but today I ate a soft pretzel and about  45 min later I had the worse cramping in my left side and front. I had to run to the bathroom and went and if felt like a rock moving down my left side, it was so painful I broke out in a sweat, started shaking and almost passed out.

I decided to stay home,(Halloween) because I hurt so much on the left side. I took a vicodin for the pain even though I know its constipating. I use the bathroom once a day, 2 days before I was constipated from taking zofran after trying predinsone again for 3 days(quit 2 days ago). I have had this pain on the lft side for 6 months, but not ever a pain that hurt so bad I couldnt talk and felt like passing out. If was so funny because as I cramped severly I could feel somithing moving down the left side. I have been using the heating pad the rest of the night and pray this goes away tommorrow. Any advice I would so appreciate. I just know its gonna take something bad to happen before the dr's will listen. I diffently can feel things are getting worse until I find the right dr.

Thank You All so Much

Go To the ER, You should not be in that kind of pain.

I agree with Navy ... you should go to the ER ASAP ... you don't want to let it go as blockages can rupture (in extreme cases.) Pain meds that aren't anti-inflammatory don't really address the underlying problem; they just mask it, which can be dangerous if you have an unaddressed blockage.

I've only been in that type of pain once, and that was when I had a nearly entire blockage. ER sounds like the best idea. If the pain has subsided, and you're able to keep food/fluids down, I think you would be able to just eat intelligently and you might be able to avoid an ER visit.

Regarding a blockage, can you pass gas in either direction or have a bm? That is one clue, because if you can't do either it point to a obstruction. Also, is the pain crampy that comes in waves much like labor pains would? That's another clue. That is how my obstructions have always felt. I hope that gives you help. Good luck!

Thank you all for your responses last night. I was going to go to ER if it had not let up today. But has easied up. It just feels like the normal left side pain. I did drink coffee this morning and went to the bathroom.
I did cramp mild for a min or two after I ate somthing today, but it went away. So Im just going to be careful about what im eating until my dr's appt. The description that was given of labor pain, I didnt think about it, but your right. Thats the only other time I've broke out in a sweat, shaking and almost passed out. (Beside's cracking my tail bone) LOL

I will keep you all updated. And thank you all so very much. I have a very high pain tolerance. You have to, to deal with these kinda of problems, but last night very much scared me, the pain was bad. THANK YOU ALL AGAIN...

soft pretzel is just as bad as pizza, it has yeast, wheat, gluten etc. all candidates to cause a leaky gut and possible abscess . I would avoid this food.

I glad your feeling better but 6 months of pain...that's alot! I had pain for a really long time and my blockage blew a hole and tried to contect to another piece of my intestines. Eventually blocked all the way and had a fistula. Very Painful!
You really shouldn't put HEAT on it at all....NO heating pad! Heat causes inflammation!!! I know it feels good..I used to go into hot tubs alot because it felt good. Was told not to even do hot baths anymore.:(
I hope you get things figured out!
P.S. I still do coffee sometimes too...it's my treat. I do decaf with a little real cream. Like you said I've given everything else up. I always make sure I'm home cuz'...it usually makes me GO! ha
