Does anyone know of a medication or something natural that I can take to help with the diarrhea and severe cramping? My doctor says to take Citricel but that's to control my diarrhea...ugg, my episodes are bringing me to my knees!  It hurts so bad. I have had crohns for like 5 years and it's never been like this.  Does anyone know what it means? Is it getting worse? I just had my wedding and I think the stress of planning it really affected me..., please help!!!  I went off of my humira, my hair was falling out in clumps and I was getting ready to walk down the aisle!  My breast implants were very painful as well and I was bruising so I went off without informing my doc....could this by way it's so bad? The diarrhea started while I was on the Humira though and has gotten worse...

Hi Jennifer,

First Congrats!!!!!!! on getting married.

As far as going off Humira with out telling the Dr, I know it says not to do that. But I am not sure of the reasons why. I've only had Crohns since Aug of 2009. So I am not an expert.

But for the last 2 weeks i've been on an over the counter anti D med, plus also taking Dicyclomine ( Bentyl ) at taking 2 20mg tablets 3 times a day. to *Help* control the D. I've been on the Dicyclomine since I was told I have Crohns. But it's stopped doing it's job on the D

But it still isn't working. Even though I am taking a 30mg of Oxycodone every 4 hours to help manage the pain of my arthritis etc. They used to make me constapated, Hell not anymore.!!!

hope another treatment works for...
Maybe someone here knows of the other injection that begins with a *C*

Sounds like you are flaring because of going off the Humira. I would contact your doctor and tell him you stopped the Humira and ask him what he wants you to do. Also, I find Librax works much better for me than Bentyl or Levsin ever has. It works really well when I am having bad cramps and diarrhea. Hope that helps.

But the diarrhea started while on Humira? So I'm confused to say the least.  I will right down these meds and discuss with my doctor, i have an appt in 2 weeks.  Thank you!

Jennifer,

I also meant to add, that when my stomach is not being nice, that my snacking on Rice Chex's will usually help alot.

Sally

I believe the other injection is called Cimzia.  I don't know too much about it though.

Congrats on the marriage.

Like Nanners said, let your doctor know that you stopped your medicine. It might be that Humira wasn't the right fit for you, or the dose wasn't right. Something in the same family, like Cimiza (sp?) might work, or another medication or combination might work better. I have learned the hard way over the course of all these years that it really is trial and error with these medications and we really do have to work WITH our doctors to find what works. If something isn't helping don't be afraid to tell your doctor and insist that they help you find something else.

Also you might want to add in a probiotic to help with the D and cramping. Probiotics and Anti-spasmodics (like Bentyl and Levsin) can help. But, once again, you have to work to find the one that is right for you. I had to try about 4 different probiotics before I found one that helped me. Levsin didn't help me at all, but Bentyl does. Just proves how individual this DD is.

Managing with strict low residue diet, keeping symptoms to a minimum. All test show small amount of ulceration, still have occasional blockages. But still have a great time with my 2 daughters and husband!

Jennifer,

Yep that's the one I was thinkiing about. The Dr and I decided to try Humira first, and if that doesn't do the job, or if my body doesn't agree with it. I will thern go to Cimiza.

Steroids do nothing for my crohns at all.

Sounds more like a case of SIBO than actual Crohn's. Could be due to an underactive pancreas or prescription GERDs meds or ??? Or maybe spam...
