Scared to death this week, As all 4 of my Dr's saw so  many signs  that pointed to MS!!!!  But got a HUGE relief that it's NOT MS. But after looking up Fibromialgia, scared to death about it as well. Part of me is also releaved that I now know what is causing all the pain in my body.

That I  had  a complete  melt down this past week. Actually I think the good cry that I had, did my body and mind good. It relieved A LOT of stress that had been building up. As much as my husband and  our 13 yr old daughter try to understand what Crohn's is, and now about Fibromialgia  and try to help me, I get frustrated.

Actually frustrated and  Mad as hell with myself!!!! As I now can't even do the simpliest of yard work. Which considering thatI had my own landscaper/Florist business  for 35+ years,  making huge rock walls, rock gardens, lugging bags of soil, rocks, trees and yep the list goes on and on.  Now cutting my perenials down for the winter is a HUGE task.  Forget about digging them up and dividing them. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Darn body anyways.....

Felt like the WORST mom this week. As our 12 yr old daughter turned the BIG 13!!!! on wednesday, and I was stuck in bed, with the pain all over my body and a Crohns flare up. Hubby had to work a 14 hr shift on wednesday. I had all these plans to make this Birthday more  special then any of the other ones, and they got thrown out the window.

The topic that I wrote about 2 weeks ago, *Rare Side effects from Remicade??? anyone else have them???  tells the whole story with my health this year. Now just waiting for 2010, as it HAS to be a BETTER year.

Hey Countrymom,

Many of us with Crohns also developed Fibro. What I have found that has helped my fibro pain the most is taking Vitamin D. I started reading about it and found that it is a great help for fibro. Started out taking 1000 units and and felt like I was getting a cold and bumped it up to 2000 units and the thing I noticed the most was that my fibro pain was SOOOOO much better. Maybe give it a try. I am going to try to find a interesting article I read and will post it for you.

Good luck!

countrymom, I am with you on waiting for 2010 being a better year. I am gonna have a celebration for New Year's Eve, if I am feeling up to it. IBD sucks a big one, so does fibromyalgia. Have you tried Lyrica? Also, a new drug for fibromyalgia is supposed to be coming out as we speak. I hope it is good, a lot of people don't like Lyrica. Sometimes the tricyclic antidepressants help it. I had symptoms of fibro years ago and it was just low thyroid. Once I got on enough synthroid, all the muscle aches went away. Then again, I think having IBD gives us aches and pains too. I've had to start taking loritab on occasion when my IBD gets too painful. Good luck to you. I hope it all gets better soon!
diagnosed 1/09 with "diverticular colitis" ?? location: sigmoid colon

Saw this in the brochure:

If I have other illnesses can I take vitamin D?
Certain illnesses or physical disorders may prevent your body from digesting
vitamin D or using it properly. Before starting vitamin D supplements,
you should talk to your healthcare provider if you have any of the
following:
-liver or kidney problems -kidney stones
-irritable bowel syndrome -Crohn’s disease -celiac disease

Any reason why someone with Crohn's should speak with their doctor first?

Good Morning and thank you Nanners., for the idea with Vitamin C.

I read this after I WAYYYYYYYYYYY over did it yesterday outside! I was leaf blowing etc, and kept taking my Oxycodone, to help deal with the pain. But DANG IT!!!! I needed to be outside yesterday. Heck it was a HEAT WAVE here in New Hampshire yesterday, as it got to 50!!!! up on our mountain. Considering it was 16 in the morning.  It helps me  to work through my stress. Plus the Sun felt so good!

Since I got out of the hospital in August after Crohns was diag, I had been drinking those Ocean Spray drink mixes. The one I LOVE is White Cranberry Peach. Each small packet has 100% of Vitamin C, needed Daily. But i've realized that lately I have not been drinking it. Instead just drinking water. So after I read your idea about Vitamin C, I was like dummy me!!!!  get back to drinking the Ocean spray Drink mix. Whats great about it, is that it has only 5  calories!!!! per packet. I used to go through a whole box (10 packets) a day. so I was getting  I guess a 1000% of my vitamin C per day.

Good Morning Jean,

Yep it has to be better, or else someone is going to have to have a really good answer!!! lol. See my husband and I said that about this year, as the last 2 years, we had to deal with my husband small cell carcenoma lung cancer. That was found by pure accident!!! only one spot on his right lung. Considering that those were our firsrt 2 years of marriage. It sure was a trying time. But we made it, and he is now Cancer FREE!!!

So we keep telling ourselves if we made it through that, then we can make it through anything!!!

Heres to a GREAT 2010!!!!!!!

CountryMom my suggestion is additional Vitamin D not C. Many Crohnies have been found to be lacking in Vitamin D. I have a very sensitive gut, and this has been the one supplement I can take that doesn't upset my stomach. Give it a try, hope it works as well for you as it did me.

Hugs

If that Ocean Spray stuff has artificial sweetener, be careful...I find the sweeteners upset my stomach more than real sugar!
