well we are gonna try a new thing for me. i know some of you have had the old balloon dilation.. me, not yet. i am Sooo looking forward to it. smhair my CT 10 days ago shows a narrowed section of the sigmoid/rectum connection. and consequently craps backing up. so i start the prednisone tonight with my "emergency stash" and go get the rest tomorrow. hey at this point , if it helps with the swelling and pain, i dont care if they are Yak crap pills! smilewinkgrin

hey randynoguts, I'm sorry to hear this. I have seen your posts around this site, so I guess I'm not exactly new here either. Troubles near the anastomosis I take it? I seem to be having some inflammation in my colon, which seems to be backing me up a little bit too. Weird cause it does not feel that close to my connection site.  I have found some relief using a stool softener along with increasing my crohn's medications. I hear endoscopic dilations can be effective if they are able to do it properly. Maybe they want to reduce some of the inflammation first before dilating? Good luck getting better, God bless.

Hey Randy, I know some patients who had good results with balloon angioplasty on their hearts and my husband had dilation of his esophagus. Sure hope yours turns out well also!

thanks...

Cam, nope. nowhere near my only remaing anastamosis. its at the junction of the sigmoid and rectal vault. right where it makes the 90 degree turn. and i sure dont need a stool softener! . thats not the problem... what we figure is the stricture is not letting even fluids past most of the time. when it does its small amounts . my normal for years has been the total opposite. large volumes under great speed and pressure.

Hmom, me too! i just hope it wont be a blowout.

I had my esophagus ballooned a few years ago. It worked very well for me. I bet it will do the job for you and you are gonna poop like a champ! Good Luck
I use FD&C Blue dye number 1 and it really seems to help me.  There is SCIENCE behind this.  Just ask me and I will explain it to you.  U/C and Crohn's for 34 years.  Blue dye for one month and I am feeling pretty good!  I am so excited by this but I need others to try it with their doctor's permission.  Simple food coloring!!  BLUE1.
I can't make money on this, it's already in your kitchen.  I just want to help, especially the youngsters.
I do 2 drops in 6 ounces of water when I get up, 2 or 3 drops in 16 or 20 ounces of water that I sip all day and then 2 drops in 6 ounces of water at bedtime.   Max of 7 drops a day.
