hi,
I need some advice from people who have taken the swine flu vaccine. I had mine on friday, along with the seasonal flu and pneumovax. from sunday the pain from the swine flu vaccine (left arm) started hurting, and i couldnt sleep properly that night. today morning the pain is so bad I cant change my clothes. its so painful, and disabling its unbelievable. I am also on ciprofloxacin so im thinking it might be tendonitis, but im not sure, as ive never had that before. Can someone please confirm whether what im experiencing is normal or not.
thank you

Its normal to have some arm soreness after the flu shot, but with you being on Cipro I think you need to contact your doctor about how painful your arm has become. Cipro can cause tendons issues, so please do see your doctor. Good luck and keep us posted.

I can relay my experience with Cipro. I took it on one occasion, and I couldn't raise my left arm more than halfway for a week, because it was stiff and painful. The second time I took Cipro, I had an even worse reaction. My ankles and knees swelled up, and I could barely walk. I also had breakouts on my arms and face. My doctors were reluctant to say it might have been from Cipro, but I have no doubt. I'll never take it again, or any other fluoroquinolone antibiotic.

Female, age 43
Crohns for 10 years, ulcerative colitis for 10 years before that
Humira injection once a week, many vitamins and supplements

thank you both for your helpful replies. I have been taking cipro for two weeks now, and the pain came(exactly as lynn024) has described two days after vaccine. will try and get in contact with doc.

Peace08 - just to clarify, I've never had any flu shots. I was taking Cipro for complications from Crohn's. Good luck.

I had the seasonal flu shot and the pneumonia shot about a month ago myself, and was SHOCKED at how much the pneumonia vaccine arm hurt the next day. We're not supposed to take Advil, but I did anyway, because as you indicated, the pain was bad enough that I couldn't sleep. If you're having the same reaction, hopefully you're feeling better by now. Hope so!!! :)
Diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in Jan 2007, though sick since mid 90’s. Currently on Humira and Protonix. Have had success with Entocort and Cipro; negative experience with Methotrexate.
