I thought I just had a case of the flu, however I am in the worse pain I have ever felt.  My pain runs from the bottom of my rib cage all the way until I have either a huge gas attack or run to the bathroom.  I am not having D though, instead it is very mushy and a ligh brown to dark yellow with mucus.  If I turn it hurts on the side I am on.  I am really not able to sleep and do not feel like throwing up or anything.

Has anyone else ever had this type of flu?

Hi HM,
If I were you and you don't feel better soon I would go to the ER.
Hi, I am teddybearweiser, I am a male.
I was diagnosed with crohns disease when i was admitted to the hospital

in 1992, in Jan of 1993 I was back in the hospital for surgery for my crohns. I had part of my right colon resectioned with ilecolonstomy.

It could be any kind of bug. Even though you aren't throwing up, it doesn't take much to get dehydrated. Don't wait too long to go to the hospital if you are in that much pain. It could be a partial blockage too. But none of us should suffer in pain.

Managing with strict low residue diet, keeping symptoms to a minimum. All test show small amount of ulceration, still have occasional blockages. But still have a great time with my 2 daughters and husband!

Thanks. I did wonder about a blockage, I don't know how they feel. I just know it is a lot like the pain I had during my miscariage--like severe cramping

Go to the ER. Don't let it get too bad. I had the same pain about a month ago, felt like labor pains, it hurt so bad. I did throw up, but like you I thought I just had a bug or something. I didn't go that time but went on liquids for a few days and it subsided. It came back though and on Sunday of last week I was hurting so bad I finally couldn't take it anymore. Went to the ER and I have inflammation outside the bowel and a perforation. I'm still in the hospital with no end in sight for now. They are even talking surgery but I'm so inflamed I'm on meds to get it healed some before they can make a final decision. I don't want to scare you, but it's better to be safe than sorry. If you're hurting that bad it's a good idea to find out. Hang in there and good luck.

I have what might be a stupid question...how long does it take for something like a perferation to form? I had a ct scan in june and everything looked ok

Mine could be the fistula I've had for 4 years, it had closed up but now my GI thinks it could've opened back up because I'm flaring so bad. They can't tell quite yet with the CT scan because I'm so inflamed. I'm not sure how long it would take a perforation to form, but if you're flaring bad I wouldn't think it would take long. I know it didn't take long my last flare for me to get the fistula.

Oddly enough when I had the ct scan in june it showed a cyst on my ovary and my right ovary was attached to my uterus. My gyn detched it and drainned the cyst.

HM, be sure to drink plenty of fluids, getting dehydrated will make things a lot worse. I'll add my 2 cents to everyone else, don't wait too long if the pain is severe, pain often means things are getting worse.
