Hi, I am 16 (male)and have had symptoms since I was 12. I was diagnosed about a year ago. My Crohns last year was only in my Ileum but is now in my esophogus and rectum. They told me Pentassa is worthless when it is in your Ileum. My dad did not want me to go on Imuran. I have just started Imuran 100mg , Protonix 40mg, Prednisone 40mg. My pain is mostly in my heels but I get joint pain everywhere. I also take 6000Iu of fish oil, 150 mg of iron (slo FE), acidophilus, Multi vitamin, 6000IU of Vitamin D. I was on my way to playing college hockey but that is gone. I am tired all the time. Sometimes can't get to school. On good days I play video games. This sucks. I do not have fistulas or strictures (yet) but this crap is spreading. I am hoping the new meds help. Imuran is suppose to take 3 months to kick in. The prednisone has taken away a lot of the pain and I have some energy but I know my immune system is compromised. I just came down with a bladder infection today. ***? Not sure if I should get the flu shots. Any of you veteran Cronnys have input, comments or advice? Thanks for listening to my depressed ass.

Hi pezdog,

I'll bet more than your ass is depressed, but don't worry about it, we all get depressed. Most of us are having a pretty bad time when we get diagnosed, that's usually why we get diagnosed. Hopefully you can get this under control, figure out what foods to avoid (we're all different in that), and live a fairly normal life... until the next flare. If you get depressed enough that it starts to effect your behavior, like hiding in your room all the time, then talk to your dr about it.

As far as the flu shot goes, my dr wants me to get one every year. I'm going in to get the H1N1 shot tomorrow because he wants me to. You should ask your family dr. GIs are good for GI things but your GP is still the best for the other things, at least mine is.

I hope you start feeling better in less than 3 months.

Why are your heels hurting so much?
AzJohnny

I feel a whole lot more the way I do now than I did a little while ago.

My inflammation has always seemed to go to my feet. I have heard that is common in Crohns. I I also have anemia and don't seem to be absorbing the iron. Any suggestions?
