Latest scope was nasty, but I already new that.  Have a stricture higher up which can not be dialated the traditional way so have to go in for another scope but done under xray.  This is totally new to me, but he said that because of the position this is the only way he can safely dialate.  Yippee!!(not)  Mean that in the near future I will be going through the prep and then the dialation again.  I asked about getting something stronger so I don't feel so much, but last time he gave me the max dose.  This time though he will hit me with the max right off the bat, not the usual dose and then more part way through.  I know this is easier to get over than surgery and I know the pain doesn't last that long, but it is hard to get yourself prepared for this when you know the pain you will feel.

Also talked about how I have been passing my mezavant tablets whole more and more.  This means we will be looking for a new medication and it will be one of the IV ones.  He will make the decision after my scope.  He is going to evaluate my file and see if I qualify for a new drug that they are testing for Crohn's.  He didn't give me any information on it, will talk about it at my next appointment.

Since my last scope in October I have just really have had the feeling that I am not doing well with my crohn's.  I am so tired all the time that I feel that I could just sleep day in and day out.  Have been experiencing increased pain on my lower left side and just basically a over all feeling of unwell.  I am going to talk to my PMD about possibly going on something for depression, I take paxil for anxiety but it just isn't cutting it.  Also going to ask about maybe increasing the amount of vit D I take and ask what he thinks of upping my b12 injections.

I usually try to stay upbeat about this disease but I am really feeling like it is kicking me in the butt lately!

5 years ago put on salofalk.  Early 2009 taken off salofalk put on entocort 3 tab/day, mezavant 2 tabs/2 x's day, methotrexate inj once a week.  Folic, Vit D, calcium, vit c, multi vit, tylenol arthritis.
Will be taken off methotrexate after next dialation (scheduled for asap) and put on IV drugs, just not sure which one yet.

Sorry to hear that you will have to have the repeat scope. Could you ask him for a general anesthetic instead? Also I take 2400 units of Vitamin D and that has really helped me, not sure how much you are taking now. As for the depression, maybe he can just up the paxil and see if that helps. Good luck!

Thanks Nanners. I am not sure if he would give me a general or not. Also not sure if I really want the general. Yes it does hurt but it doesn't last that long and I do get to go home quickly. I am taking 1000 units of Vit D so it is quite possible that uping that could improve my mood. And I will talk to him about raising my paxil dose.

I would definitely see about getting general. If they say no, demand you get better pain relief. I don't know what you got last time, but there are definitely more powerful drugs out there (hydromorphone, fentanyl , etc).
Diagnosed with CD July 2007
Currently on Remicade, Imuran, probiotics, folic acid, multivitamin.
