Can vomiting just be a reg CD symptom and not mean a blockage?

I have had a wonderful remission going. BUT recently had some minor symptoms, sick after eating, on and off shooting pains. . .It escalated this weekend to vomiting. Just one round the other night. Called the GIs office and they (not my normal doc) want me to go to the ER. Concerned it could be a blockage (been there, so not it) or that I could be dehydrated. I don't think I'm dehydrated yet either. If I stick to liquids I'm fine. The kicker is, I'm pregnant. Another reason not to go to the ER (can't do a CT or xray), but the reason they are extra paranoid.

So, anybody have this just as a flare symptom? I'm hoping it really is something else. Sure it's not a blockage at this point.

Could it be the pregnancy making you vomit?

I have had problems with nausea and vomiting from time to time. Usually I'll just throw up once and then feel fine. I haven't had any pain with it though. If you're having pain with it also, you may want to get it checked out further, just to be safe. The ER can't do a CT or xrays (well, they can, but that's another discussion) but you can have an MRI done. They also can give you fluids to keep you from getting dehydrated.

If you don't go to the ER, ean you call your GI and insist they make an appointment to see you? That way you would at least be seen by a dr to see if they think it's just CD related.

I spent a good deal of january last year throwing up, I think it's just a regular symptom for me. I feel blocked now (going to the Dr. wednesday) and I haven't thrown up... I load myself up pretty good with gravol when I feel nauseous though because I've always really hated throwing up (even more than regular people)! Also I believe a family member of mine who also has crohns used to have vomiting as a symptom as well without blockage

Thanks guys. Didn't know about the MRI option. If I feel dehydrated I may go, hoping to just get into the doc's office first.

Glad to know it can just be a symptom. I've had a few bouts before with more pain this and vomiting. I've had blockages too. This feels more minor than the other experiences, but want to be more cautious too. We're pretty sure it's not the pregnancy because I am just past that stage and this is the first of it. Who knows though?

I've never had a blockage (knock on wood) and I have been a "puker" for the last 8 years. You know your body so I would go with your instinct on this one. The doc's office doesn't want to take a risk because you're preggo (I don't blame them), but if you think you're ok, I'd wait till you can speak with your regular GI.

Keep us posted!!!

Unfortunately, vomiting is just a regular symptom for me as far as I know. I'm getting my gallbladder checked out to be sure, but when I feel bad, I throw up up to 20 times a day :/ It's actually one of my worst symptoms (along with upper GI pain) and I have no idea what causes it.

How long have you been on the Pentasa? It makes me feel like I have morning sickness. I would vomit on the way to work so I had to switch meds.

I hope you get this sorted out quickly so you can concentrate on your new bundle of joy.

Thanks for the reassurance. My GI agreed with me. I did labs tonight and will go in for an office visit. Back on Pentasa -- I'd stopped with this pregnancy so it wasn't the cause. Feeling mostly better as long as I watch what I eat. Hoping it's flukey late morningsickness or something, but will know soon enough.
