Hi all,  I recently started Remicade and heard a lot of positive things about it inducing Remission.  I wanted to know how I know if I am remission?  What can I look forward too?  I've had 2 IV's so far and have seen a reduction in the "pooing" from 6-10 times a day to 3-4 times a day, but will this get even better?

Thanks for the info!

Well i was on remicade for 1 year 4 monts, however it did not put my crohn's into remission. I change to Humira in July and I can say my crohn's fianlly finally went into remission. I can eat so much more now.. Corn, anything green (expect I haven't tried salad yet as this was the worst for me, little scary) I never have a sore stomach anymore. I do have flare up once and awhile but nothing like before. It's more, oh i have to go to the bathroom, with a little D and then I am fine and eat whatever i want again.
I suggest you keep on eye out for anti-bodies with Remicade as it will cause arthritis. Ask your doc to do regural blood work (which they should be doing anyways to keep an eye out for you liver) and to include anti-bodies into that. My doc nevr did. I found out on here about anti-bodies (after being crippled for 8 months)
I just the best of luck to you with remi, I hope it's the med for you!!!

Thanks for the info. I was on Humira for over 6 months and it didn't do much for me. I actually had the arthritis pain on the Humira and haven't had any pain since being off of it (over a month now). The dr will be doing regular blood work (and probably CT's) to watch the fistula that formed while I was on the Humira.

oh wow!! well thanks for the info.. I also get the arthritis pains but only when I am on my period so I don't know yet!! it is endo or humira.. I don't know.. neither do the docs.
Are you takng Remi alone? Or with another meds like Imuran? I do find taking this while on humira has help a lot of the RA pains.
If you are maybe ask your doc.
So if Humira didn't work for you, I think you have a very high chance of remi working for you. Just IMO I find if 1 doesn't work for a person the other will (remi/humira)
Keep us posted on how it's going for you!!!

I also take Pentasa along with different vitamins and a probiotic. I am on depo provera so I don't get a cycle anymore so there are no issues from mother nature. I am hoping the Remi will work since the Humira didn't. So far so good. I haven't had any reactions to the Remi. Fingers crossed! My last CT showed decreased inflamation and the fistula was starting to heal but that was less than a week after IV #1 so that might have been from the Cipro and Flagyl that I was on prior to the IV.

I have my fingers crossed for ya and my toes!!!
looking good tho, keep it up!!! :)
Ah I was on depro for 5 years, funny I found it messed with the CD, bu it could be I was just being DX at the time so it was going untreated for 10 years. But I was supper depressed and moody on it, do you find that?
I am currently looking for an option to stop my periods due to endo. Right now looks like depro is the only one I can take but I really don't want to.

I've been on the depo almost 3 years and was just diagnosed with CD in Feb of this year. So far the depo causes no issues with the CD and I have had no side effects from it. Good luck with your quest!
