I had my appt. with the surgeon today and I'm scheduled for the resection Jan. 15.  I was hoping to get in prior to year end -- for HR and time off reasons, but the only time before year end is 12/23 and I'm not missing my grandkids at Christmas.
Basically, he agreed with my GI it's better to do this now that have a complete blockage.  He'll remove my neo ileum (the anastamosis site) and the calcified barium and then reconnect everything.  It's being planned as laproscopic, depending of course on how much scar tissue he finds.   Cross your fingers that it's very little and he doesn't have to remove any more than necessary.  That's my biggest fear, that I'll end up with an ostomy.

Good old January - I had my resection in January of 2004. Was either that or just before Christmas. I said the same thing pretty much lol. No way was I going to miss out on holding my little girl and playing with her on Christmas day. So I chose to be sick instead hehe. I hope you have a lovely Christmas with your grandkids and wish you all the very best of luck with your surgery.

Fingers crossed for as little scar tissue as possible!!! :)

Ditto the good luck! And I think it's a very loving choice you're making about spending time with your family instead; always worth it!

Yep I had my first resection in January too. I hope this surgery brings you to a long long remission.
