Got the call today and I will be starting on Remicade on Jan. 4th.

Just wondering if there is anyone out there on Remicade like me.  I am 38 and have had 2 resection surgeries, 1 when I was diagnosed at age 16 and my second just 3 years ago.  My Chrohn's is a little strange since I have virtually no symptoms or flares.  The only time I was really sick was right before I had my surgeries.  As of now I still have no symptoms.  I have loose stools but usually only once or twice a day.  Have gas and bloating but it is easily controlled.  I have been on Pentasa, Azathyoprine, Prednisone, and most recently Lialda.

The weird part is I have what my doctor calls "centralized" Crohn's.  I only have inflimmation at the site where I have been resectioned.  He is going to try and see if the Remicade can stop the inflimmation because if it doesn't stop it, I will again be looking at having my 3rd resection in the years to come.

Anybody out there with Crohn's that has been on Remicade with no symptoms of Crohn's other than the inflimmation?

I have Crohn's Colitis (they can't determine which) - I have Crohn's markers (ulcers on esophogas, skin tags (fun!), skin rashes, etc) but the actual inflammation seems to be located on only one area of my lower intestine and rectum. I have been on Remicaide for a little over a year and it's worked great for me, although it took a long time psychologically to get used to the fact I had such a hard core drug infused in me. But it has let me have a normal life and that wins out any day of the week.

I am sorry you are going through this - I don't have a similar situation but just wanted to make sure: you have gotten other opinions and seen other doctors, right?

Oh don't get me wrong, I love my Doctor and trust him 110 %.  He just has had a hard time treating my inflammation since I never have symptoms or flares blush

Coachb123..I am a little like you.  I was diagnosed as a teenager.  I don't have many symptoms.  The biggest one was having a lot of BMs.  I haven't had any pains, no surgery yet and for the most part I have a mild case.  I have been on every medication out there and nothing has helped.

I have just started Remicade recently and I feel completly normal now. Normal BM 1-3x a day.  No bad reactions to the drug.  I am living life with freedom again.  My doc was hesitant to start Remi since I had a mild case but I insisted and I am glad he let me.  I hope you have as good a reaction as I am having.
