A case of Omaha steaks was waiting outside my door this evening. Yuck. There's so much I can't fit it in the fridge. I can't eat red meat. My hubby has IBS and can't eat red meat. Seriously, a giant box of illness. From the mom- in-law too. Have had numerous discussions with her about not being able to eat red meat. Only thing better would be a giant cannister of popcorn. I think I may go round to neighbors and pass out the boxes.

I think that sounds like a great idea inflamed.

A delicious porterhouse might just be worth a bit of discomfort. But that's probably just me.

Does the box come with a blank check to use when you have to rush to the ER?

It would have been better had she spent $5 on toilet paper...that we can all definitely use!

If it was me (I don't have issues with red meat) but if I did, I'd donate it to a soup kitchen, feeding the poor esepcially during this time of the yr....just a thought.

A food kitchen's a great idea. The one closest to me is dry goods, but I bet one would take it.

I was thinking the same thing about the er. My copay's $75. She also knows that I can hardly eat anything this pregnancy, so I'm just stumped.

OMG, your story just made me laugh. What a hoot! Sorry if you didn't mean to be funny but sometimes you just have to laugh at how thoughtless people can be. Of course, it had to be the in laws. Bless your heart! I bet a needy family would love them though ! Congrats on the pregnancy as well. Maybe you can give them a really nice present and then just drop a hint that you two can't eat steaks so they feel guilty. lol....

I would be more than happy to come and take them off your hands. We are carnivores in this house.
I use FD&C Blue dye number 1 and it really seems to help me.  There is SCIENCE behind this.  Just ask me and I will explain it to you.  U/C and Crohn's for 34 years.  Blue dye for one month and I am feeling pretty good!  I am so excited by this but I need others to try it with their doctor's permission.  Simple food coloring!!  BLUE1.
I can't make money on this, it's already in your kitchen.  I just want to help.
I do 2 drops in 6 ounces of water when I get up, 2 or 3 drops in 16 or 20 ounces of water that I sip all day and then 2 drops in 6 ounces of water at bedtime.   Max of 7 drops a day.  Give it about ten days.  I am NOT a healthcare professional.   Ask your doctor if this is safe for you.

Better ask before you go to a food bank. They may not want to chance the meat being off or they may not have storage for it. They usually want stuff in cans for that reason.

Yeah, that's why I didn't mention a fod-bank, they tend to take non-perishable items only, but a soup kitchen would likely be a good place to dontate or to a few needy families depending on how many are in the box will depend on how many individual famlies you could donate to.

After living with my parents for 22 years and expressing all these years how I don't drink tea, a couple of years ago for Hanukkah my mom gives my wife and I some tea as a gift.  I again explain how I don't really drink tea.  Next year, she gives us a bigger tea set.

I'll take Omaha steaks any day over a darn tea set.

Wow..that beats the fruit basket I got (and I have received the tin of popcorn from many clients, but they didn't know better). I took my fruit basket to the local senior center and asked them to share it with anyone without family this time of year.

My Dad still offers me things like cantaloupe that I am literally DEATHLY allergic to and have been since the early 1960's. Maybe I should take the hint?
As for the steaks? Invite some friends over for a BBQ? Offer to a neighbor who is out of work. I want to say an elderly neighbor but I wonder if they will have the teeth for it?
Don't look the gift horse in the mouth. Try not to hold it against your relative. YOU will be the BIGGER person if she is being malicious and if it is innocent and you take offense then you are being small and ungrateful. I get irritated with my DAD. I mean it isn't as though he just started this when he got old, he has always done this. I am not one of eight either, just two kids. I hope to someday be big enough to not be so annoyed with him.

PS. I LOVE STEAKS!!!!
