I was in the hospital Friday, recovering on the weekend at home. Monday Night started my period and had another flare up ended up back in the ER. I explain this to my GI. She is well aware of my flares when I get my periods.
So she RX this med(Citalopram). In high hopes it control the hormones and maybe not get a flare when I get my period.
Has anyone heard of this? All my research has gotten me no where. Find people use this only for depression. And the Doc knows clearly I am not depressed, frustrated but not depressed. I am about to be married! :)
I hope someone has heard of this med. Thanks for anyones advice/opinion/suggestions in advance.

I have not heard of this med helping monthly problems, but I have heard of them using Zoloft to help with the PMDD. Maybe the med you were prescribed helps in the same way.

Can you not use Birth Control Pills? I used those and they made life so much better for me. After I had my tubes tied, I stopped using BC pills and all that pain came back and worse.

Good luck!

That really sucks no one has heard of it, other then for depression. As it's started to effect my sleep. Like Prentz does :(

I can't use any birth control since I suffer from migraines. It's never been an option for me. I've suffered migraines since I was 6.
The doctor's don't even know what to give me to help with the periods, or to stop my periods for awhile. We are all at a lost.
