I 've been in a Crohns flair since mid-September; gut pain, diarrhea, weight loss, loss of appetite, blah, blah, blah.  The past couple of weeks, the diarrhea has lessened ... but my question is; what is the yellow acid-like stuff that shoots out of my butt everyday?  There's not much fecal matter it it.  It's yellow, with a few floaties mixed in, and it BURNS like h-e-double L! shocked Is THAT considered diarrhea?

You may be looking at bile. I get it when I either haven't eaten very much or I've had so much diarrhea that there's nothing left except bile (i.e., stomach juices) for my body to expel. It's very acidic, so it burns like crazy. It may also be a mixture of very very watery diarrhea and bile. Whatever it is, it burns and hurts, and it's definitely no fun!

Yes that sounds like bile, which can also be a sign of gall bladder trouble. If you have any other gall bladder symptoms -- pain right below the ribs at center or center-right, nausea/vomiting, especially after eating a fatty meal -- you may want to have your gall bladder assessed. Either way if this continues it is definitely something for your GI to check.

I'm going to have to agree and say I think it's bile. Either that or you may have C-diff.

The only thing that makes me think it isn't bile is that when I was flaring I started throwing up stomach bile and it was green, not yellow.

Since my gallbladder was removed in 1995, I've still had plenty of bile showing up in the toilet. I'm colorblind, so I always thought it was bright orange. But somebody told me recently that it's bright green. If it's bile mixed with diarrhea, maybe it's yellow. I can't tell--the same way that I can't tell if there's blood in my stool, because I can't distinguish red from brown. (And I'm certainly not asking any family member to look!)

Cate, don't ask them to look, charge them to look.

Seriously though, you might want to take a digital picture to show your GI since you can't see the colors yourself. Just a thought.

Thanks for the responses.  I sorta wondered if it was some type of bile.  I'm definately going to mention it to my GI when I see him Tuesday.

Thanks again!!  Merry Christmas ...
