I went for my second follow-up with my GI yesterday and it's still not looking good. I have never flared this long EVER since I've had Crohn's. He is still working with me on trying to avoid surgery, but it seems like our mission now is to get me in the best shape possible before we do surgery. When he pressed around he said he could still feel a mass :( and it hurt so bad. I'm just so frustrated right now. At least I can eat, the major problems I'm having now is the lower side pain and my bm's are unpredictable. I'm still following a pretty strict diet, avoiding dairy and low fiber, gluten free.

I want to give a shout out to my doctor. . . he is amazing. He could see I was upset after her pressed around on my side yesterday and it hurt something fierce, he looked at me and gave me a little hug and said are you alright, I just told him I appreciate all of them for taking such good care of me (remember I don't have insurance) and they do a lot of extra paper work and stuff for me. I feel lucky to have such a good doctor. Thanks everyone for listening.

Happy Holidays and Hugs!!!

What does your doctor tell you the mass is? Have you had a colonoscopy? How long has this flareup lasted?

It's right where I'm having the pain in my lower right side and he says it's inflammation. I haven't had a colonosopy but I've had two CT's. I've been flaring since September and I was in the hospital for 11 days last month. The CT showed a lot of inflammation. It was so bad though they couldn't tell what what showing up (inflammation or scar tissue), I have a narrowing in that area that completely closed up in November, that's what sent me to the hospital. The surgeon wanted to open me up right then but my GI wanted to get it calmed down some which is what I want to do to. I'm just not used to it hanging around so long. I usually take meds and I get better. . . not this time though.

Sorry I'm not using a lot of the medical terminology but I can't remember everything he told me. I know my crohn's is located in the terminal ileum and I also have a recto-vaginal fistula, the last CT's showed that I may have another fistula that formed on the large bowel and goes to the small bowel, another reason he wants to put off surgery because he said it's a complicated case.

It's nice to hear when someone has a doctor they LIKE and can work with.  Often it seems like so many of us have problems with doctors.  I too like mine alot.  His bed side manners are not what my mother would approve of ... but he always gives me lots of options and lets me decide what we're going to do in my health care.

Good luck!!
